Dinner Dance: What a night was had by everyone who attended our celebration Dinner Dance on Saturday night last. Guests of honour on the night were our double winning panel of players and our team captain Colin Walshe led the team into the main dining hall to a standing ovation from a capacity attendance. MC for the night was the excellent J.P. Graham and JP started proceedings calling on club Chairman PJ Meehan to address all the guests.. PJ congratulated all the players, management and supporters on their double success. He also thanked our main sponsors Gerry and Deirdre McElroy for their total commitment to our club and all our sponsors who contributed to our successful season. Other dignitaries was Chairman of Monaghan County Board Padraig Sherry and his wife and in Mr Sherry’s address he also congratulated Doohamlet GFC for their success and stated that they were an example for all clubs to aspire to. He also praised our juvenile coaches and had special praise for youth officer Jim Kelly and his predecessor Michael McEneaney. Mr Sherry also thanked Gerry and Agnes Duffy Eurotech and Gerry and Deirdre McElroy for their continued sponsorship towards Monaghan County Board. Mr Sherry also stated that Doohamlet GFC were a credit to have four players currently on Monaghan County panels. JP then called all members of our playing panel to the stage and Mr Sherry presented each player with his Championship and league medal. There was also presentations to our management team of Trevor Duffy, Paul O’Connor, Shane McManus and Gavan Duffy. There was also presentations to club Captain Colin Walshe for his achievement of winning another Ulster Senior Championship medal with Monaghan and winning the Intermediate Player of the year. Club Chairman PJ Meehan also was presented with an award for his achievement winning Club Official of the year for a second time. A framed team photo and a bouquet of flowers were presented to Gerry and Deirdre McElroy as a thank you for their continued support and to conclude the presentations Eamon Connolly and his wife Sally were called to the stage for special presentation in recognition of Eamon’s long and dedicated service to Doohamlet GFC. Following a sumptuous meal everyone was in good spirit but when social media sensation Rorys Stories took to the floor the place was in raptures with his unique humour and comedy. A most enjoyable night and one that will not be forgotten in a while. Special thanks must go to Bernie O’Neill, Martin Connolly, Gavan Duffy Shane McManus and everyone who helped in any way towards organising this event. No stone was left unturned and it was a credit to this organising committee. Acknowledgement also to TW Stores for sponsoring the Commerative Club Ties for the players and committee members, Lavery Video Services for the various Match videos shown on the night, Chairman of Monaghan Co. Board Mr. Padraig Sherry, Photogragher Mr Fintan McTiernan and Mr. JP Graham for his professional and top class job as MC on the night. Congrats: Many congratulations to former star ladies player Rosie Hanratty nee Hughes and her husband Colm on the birth of their baby son recently.. The Hughes legacy continues. Well Done: To two young Doohamlet players Barry McGinn and Jamie Walshe who lined out on opposite sides in the Freshers A College Final in Croke Park on Monday last and congratulations to a young Cremartin player Barry Kerr who captained the winning DCU side. Sympathy: The club would like to extend our condolences to Gerry, Pat and P.J.Duffy and all the extended Duffy Family on the loss of their mother Mary Duffy and Aunt Sr. Ita Markey recently. Awards: Congrats to P.J. Meehan and Colin Walshe who received their Official and Player of the Year awards at Monaghan GAA Awards night recently. Dinner Dance: Tickets now available for our Celebration Dinner Dance on Saturday 13th February in the Glencarn Hotel. Senior Team: At a recent team meeting it was ratified that Colin Walshe will Captain our Senior team in 2016 and Gavin King was nominated as Vice Captain. Well Done: To Doohamlet players who represented their club at county level at the weekend. First up was Barry McBennett and Jamie Walshe who played for the U21’s against Louth in the Shamrock Cup on Friday night. Barry played at full forward and Jamie played at midfield. Then on Sunday Colin Walshe and Barry McGinn who made his Senior league debut played their parts in Monaghans thrilling victory away to Roscommon. Well done to all the players. Senior Championship: Doohamlet are drawn against current County Champions Scotstown in this years senior championship. This is a mouth watering fixture that no doubt our players will look forward to. Monaghan GAA Awards: A number of Doohamlet GFC members will attend the Monaghan GAA Awards ceremony in the Hilgrove Hotel tomorrow night Friday. Guests of Honour on the night are the victorious Monaghan Senior players who reclaimed the Anglo Celt Cup and special mention to our Chairman P.J. Meehan who collects his Official of the Year award and team captain Colin Walshe who will receive his Intermediate Player of the Year accolade. Congrats to all the award winners who excelled in 2015. Dinner Dance: Final touches are being made to our own celebration dinner dance in the Glencarn on Saturday 13th February. A limited number of tickets are available for this historic event so make sure you claim your tickets early. Blotto: Our Blotto will resume on Monday next 23rd January. This is our main source of income so please contribute weekly to our club blotto.

Dinner Dance: Our Double Winning celebration Dinner Dance will take place on Saturday 13th February in the Glencarn Hotel. Special guests on the night and our players will receive their Championship and League Winners medals. This promises to be a very special occasion. Congrats: Well done to Barry McGinn on his impressive displays to date with Monaghan Senior team in their McKenna Cup campaign and Colin Walshe who captained Monaghan in this competition. Also congrats to Barry McBennett and Jamie Walshe who have been selected for the Monaghan U21 squad. Huge honour for these players and our club. National Club Draw: Tickets for this draw are currently in circulation and available from players and committee members. Great prizes on offer. Please support as all monies raised go directly to the club. Senior Team: All Senior team players will commence training on Sunday 31st January and a team meeting will be held in the clubrooms on Saturday 23rd January.

A.G.M. Annual General Meetings are usually humdrum affairs with the same few people in attendance but there was an immense sense of pride and satisfaction among our members as we reviewed the past season. With the Paddy O’Rourke Cup (Championship) and the Vincent McAviney Cup (League) on display Doohamlet GFC members looked back on our history making Double winning season. Other awards of note was Club Official of the Year awarded to Doohamlet GFC Chairman PJ Meehan and team captain Colin Walshe awarded Intermediate Player of the Year at the recent County Convention. 2015 was indeed a very special year. Chairman P.J. Meehan opened the meeting with a special welcome for everyone in the capacity crowd and firstly thanked the players and management for their efforts all year and again reiterated his pride as chairman to oversee a double achievement. He also thanked all juvenile and underage coaches for their work and special mention to our main sponsor Gerry and Deirdre McElroy and indeed all our sponsors. He congratulated Colin Walshe on his Ulster Championship success with Monaghan and his Player of the Year award and also dedicated his personal Club Official of the Year award to his fellow committee members. Next report was from Secretary Martin Connolly and Martin gave a very detailed account of all activities both on and off the field. He also congratulated Trevor Duffy, Paul O’Connor, Gavin Duffy and Shane McManus for their tireless work guiding the team to glory and also congratulated Senior player Colin Walshe and our Monaghan county minor players Jamie Walshe and Conor Marray and U21 player Barry McGinn on representing our club at County level. He also congratulated Barry McGinn Jamie Walshe, Conor Marray, Damian Ward and Hugh McGinn on their success winning the McLarnon Cup with Our Ladys Castleblayney. Martin also highlighted the need for a referee from within our club and anyone interested in this please put their name forward. He thanked his fellow committee members and indeed members of the Co. Board for all their help and hoped for more success as we now dine at the top table of Monaghan Senior football. He also thanked all coaches and mentors of our underage teams and stated this is our future players and huge credit must be given to these coaches. He also sympathised with all members who lost loved ones over the past year. Youth/Juvenile coaches Bernard Coleman and Eamon Hughes gave a detailed account of all juvenile and youth activities from minors right through to U8’s. Great to see so many volunteers gave up their time and efforts towards all these youngsters and there was many games throughout the year for players of all ages to participate. Treasurer Eamon Connolly who was standing down from his position gave another comprehensive report on our finances and with many fund raising activities and sponsorship our club is thankfully in a healthy state. On behalf of the club I would like to congratulate and indeed thank Eamon for his total dedication and sterling work he has gave Doohamlet GFC over many years. Eamon was a founder member of our modern day club back in 1969 and has held many positions within the committee but no doubt even if he has relinquished his post as treasurer Eamon will not be far from the everyday running of our club. No doubt this will be a memorable night. More details in the coming weeks. Sympathy: Our Club sends its sincere sympathies to the Family and Friends of the Late Kathleen Marray. The Marray Family have been steeped in the Doohamlet ONeills tradition with Kathleens Late husband Paddy a former Great. Her sons Michael and Noel wore the jersey with distinction and were known throughout the county for their skill and endeavor. Kathleens grandson Pauric has kept that legacy intact having played up until recently. We remember in our prayers her two daughters Kathleen and Bernie and all her extended Family at this difficult time. GAA Club Draw: Our Club are currently selling tickets for the GAA National Club Draw. What is unique about this draw is that all tickets sold the money goes directly into the Club. Your Club. With many fantastic prizes to be won these tickets are very reasonably priced at only 10 euro and we hope that everyone will support this fundraiser. Blotto Winners: Our final Blotto before the Christmas break took place on the last Monday night before Christmas in the Spinning Wheel Castleblayney. There was no Jackpot winner but as a special Thank You to all our weekly subscribers ten lucky dip winners were drawn each receiving €200 each.
