Best of Luck: to all our members who are taking exams, Junior Cert, Leaving Cert, Degree, Hons Degree, Masters or the spelling test on Friday. Good luck and remember like your football you’ll get out of it what you put in, although you may feel alone sitting there at your desk with only a pen in your hand remember your club and family that are always behind you. Seniors: Clones welcomed Donaghmoyne to St Tiarnach’s Park on Saturday evening last.After a disappointing result against Corduff last time out,the home side were hoping to get back to winning ways.This was the reverse of the first game of the league where Donaghmoyne had comprehensively defeated us. Saturday produced a very entertaining game with plenty of passion and determination on display from both sides.The conditions were perfect and the first half was an even enough affair until Donaghmoyne fired three goals between the 18th and 21st minutes to leave the home side reeling and behind by six points at the break.Clones showed their character in the second half, demonstrating the ability in the panel, to dominate proceedings. The margin was reduced to one point, but with Clones increasing the pressure on the Donaghmoyne defence the final whistle sounded on a scoreline of Clones 0-15 Donaghmoyne 3-07. Despite ending in defeat,this was an encouraging performance from Clones. With half of the league programme completed we find ourselves very much in contention for the play-off positions in this extremely competitive division.There is very little between any of the teams and there are sure to be many more interesting games ahead as we battle for those all-important league points. Next match is away to Cremartin on Saturday 21st June at 7pm. U21’s: won’t be long now till the opening clash against Killeevan for our U21’s, best of luck to Daragh Holland and the team. Minors’: a break now until 8th July some of the lads can take a well deserved break, others will be working hard on their exams and we wish them well. U-16s: There’s a break for both teams now until the end of June with exams and we wish all our players the very best in their exams. U14’s: Played Rockcorry last Saturday going down narrowly by two points. Div4 team are away to Toome in round 7 of the league on Thursday the 19th of June, Big Game: 15th of June sees Clones host the USFC clash of Monaghan and Tyrone, volunteers will be needed for this game and you’re asked to contact the Secretary, Chairman and Tom Kelly. Best of luck to James Mealiff, fellow team-mate Dermot Gleeson and the County minor team who face Tyrone in the first round of the Ulster Minor championship in Park Esler Newry this Saturday evening. This is a repeat of last year’s momentous final and a similar result will do nicely. This is going to be difficult for the lads with a strong Tyrone support guaranteed. Congratulations to Ella Daly and Conor Reilly who were awarded scholarships to Colaiste Bhride Rann na Feirste by Coiste Chontae Mhuineachain CLG Seniors: Clones Senior team kept up their 100% home record in this years league with a comprehensive victory over Emyvale on Sunday afternoon last. Played in slippery conditions in St.Tiarnach’s park, the home side were dominant throughout. This was a good overall performance with the lads playing some attractive football, Final score Clones 2:14 Emyvale 0:05, we played Corduff last night (Wednesday) in Clones. Our next game is home to Donaghmoyne on Saturday the 31st May at 7pm. there was plenty of support in Clones last Sunday and its great to see good numbers getting behind the team. Minors’: St.Tiarnachs played Truagh on Tuesday last week in Clones in a salivating encounter. This was the clash of the top two teams in the league and it didn’t disappoint, with some great performances on both teams. Home advantage and the support of a great crowd in the field yielded another fantastic victory for this hardworking Clones, Eire Óg amalgamation, final score in Clones St.Tiarnach’s 3:15 Truagh 1:12. This win puts St.Tiarnachs at the top of the table and with a break now until 8th July some of the lads can take a well deserved break, others will be working hard in their exams and we wish them well. U-16s the division3 teams’ game against Toome was conceded by Toome last Thursday, this evenings game against Patrick Emmets is a home fixture with a 7:30pm throwin and the lads would really appreciate your support. The division4 team suffered another agonising defeat against Latton and the lads should take heart in defeat and continue to do their best, good things are sure to come for this team. There’s a break for both teams now ntil the end of June with exams and we wish all our players the very best in their exams. U14’s got the points against Oram last Saturday and their next game is a home fixture against Rockcorry on Saturday in Killeevan. Support the teams. U12’s last Saturday seen the end of the spring league with both teams equipping themselves very well. Our Currin amalgamation enjoyed their football and there are some very bright shining lights for the future. The spring league finals will take place this Saturday the 24th in Cloghan. Mol na h’oige agus tiocfaish siad. There’ll be summer games for the teams when the championship gets under way. U10’s Blitz: we travelled to Rockcorry on Saturday with our usual hope and expectation on a well organised and competitive round of games. We were pitched up against Tyholland, Rockcorry and Drumhowan. Clones hit the ground running and put in a fantastic display all round especially in the first game against Tyholland. A very successful day for our young talent and well deserved for the hard work they put in over the day. A lot of proud parents there as well to witness their little ones playing so well. Outstanding performances all round especially Cormac Adamson, Sarah Monaghan, Oisin Clerkin, Andrew McCaughey and Diarmuid McElvaney.
