Producing a superb display at the National Games Development Centre, Monaghan defeated Leitrim by 6-16 to 1-08 in the final, adding this prestigious success to their Ulster GAA league title victory achieved back in March 
This talented Monaghan side delivered a performance worthy of champions, combining excellent teamwork, clinical finishing, and relentless work rate to secure a memorable victory and bring the Celtic Challenge trophy home to the county for the first time.
Leitrim started brightly and remained in contention throughout the opening period, but Monaghan’s determination and attacking quality began to shine through as the game progressed. Goals from Evan Butler and Darren Hoey helped the Farney men establish momentum, while their composure in possession and ruthless finishing kept the scoreboard ticking over.
Holding a narrow advantage at the interval after a competitive first half, Monaghan exploded into life after the break. Well-worked goals from Donncha Smith, Evan Butler, and Cillian McKenna in the opening period of the second half created daylight between the sides, while a disciplined defensive display limited Leitrim’s scoring opportunities. Jack Duffy put the finishing touch on a dominant performance, cutting through the defence in the closing moments to fire low to the net.
