It was a Super Sunday of Hurling this morning in a sun drenched VBC Cloghan as our U12 teams contested a “Summer Blitz” as we welcomed in teams from Armagh also.
🥎 After a series of games Truagh and Castleblayney Hurling emerged as group winners and contested the A final with Carrickmacross Hurling and Middletown contesting the B final.
🗣️It was an end to end game in the A final with plenty of excitement, skill, and no shortage or drama. A late Truagh goal sealed a 3 point win with some heroic defending at the end to deny Castleblayneys lively forwards that equalising score to force extra-time. In the B final Middletown lead by 2 points at half-time as Carrickmacross drew level late in the second half. Two goals in the dying moments insured Middletowns victory as the game was set for a grandstand finish.
👏Congratulations to all teams on a brilliant morning of hurling, and our thanks to the players, mentors and of course the parents who all came out in vocal support.
Monaghan GAA would like to thank refreees Paddy Collins, Calum Sherry and Jim O’Rourke for their officiating and to Hurling Officer Patrick Hannon and Coiste Na nÓg for their organisation and administration of today’s games. And to Patrick for presenting to the winners.
Lovely Hurling 👏
