The dust has settled on the Monaghan Senior Inter-County season but what a season it was. Having dropped to Division 2 in 2024 we were almost written off but the opposite was actually the case. New Management, New Season, New Rules and Monaghan bounced back to Division 1 by topping the Division 2 table and winning the Division 2 title! Playing with pride and passion, dedicated to grind and glory the challenge to return to the top flight was accepted and delivered.
The challenge to the top continued as Monaghan also topped the Group Stage of the All-Ireland Series by Topping Group 3 having defeated Louth, Clare & Down, making it the only county to win all matches in the Group Stage. Having secured a Quarter Final spot Monaghan earned a 2 week break before they met Donegal in Croke Park on Saturday 28th June 2025 @ 4pm. Manager Gabriel announced the Monaghan team below on 26th June. Monaghan went in at the interval dominating the scoreboard but in the second half a more clinical Donegal brought the curtain down on Monaghan’s All-Ireland dream.
Monaghan GAA extends a big shout-out to Gabriel, his backroom team and the entire Monaghan squad on a super 2025 season. Saturday 28th June wasn’t to be but ye played with heart & pride all season and have elevated Monaghan back to the top tier for 2026. If you think back to the first match played in snowy conditions in Castlebar back in early January 2025 you will see what a journey it has been. We are all very proud of what you have achieved and the fans have cheered loudly along the way! We thank you for the memories of 2025 and look forward with optimism to the 2026 season.
