Carrickmacross secured back-to-back Mick Hannon Shields last Thursday(29th) as they ran out comfortable winners on a 1.17 to 1.07 scoreline over hosts Clontibret
Clontibret opened the scoring through a Henry Kelly point before Carrick raced into a 6 points to 1 lead with Ryan O’Rourke posting a number of frees. Clontibret were awarded a penalty midway through the first half but Shane McNallys effort blazed wide of the post and Carrick took a 0-09 to 0-05 lead in at half-time
It was all one way traffic in the second half as Carrickmacross continued to dominate in most sectors with a late consolation goal for Clontibret just before the full-time whistle.
Captain Niall Keenan received the Mick Hannon Shield from Hurling Officer Patrick Hannon who remarked it capped off a great week of hurling in Carrickmacross with their U16s winning the Division Two Táin Óg competition the previous evening
