The Monaghan Poc Fada Finals took place Sunday May 11th at a sun-drenched VBC Centre of Excellence, Cloghan

 

In the Senior category Castleblayney & County Senior ‘Keeper Hugh Byrne claimed the longest Poc with a recording of 114metres. Clontibrets Chrissy McDermott and Monaghan Harps’ Dylan McAree both recorded a distance of 100metres and a “Poc Off” was required to decide who would claim second spot. Dylan just shaded the second attempt with a recording of 95metres.

In the U16 category Monaghan Harps’ Jack Murphy claimed the longest Poc with a 67 metre strike.

Both winners received their trophy and county jersey from Hurling Officer Patrick Hannon and progress to the Ulster final on June 17th in Glenarm, County Antrim.

 

Monaghan GAA would like to thank the participants for entering, and to wish both Hugh and Jack best wishes ahead of the Ulster final and to Patrick Hannon for the organising of the competition and Niall McClave for the photographs on the day.
