Intermediate Champions 2023

Well what a day we had in Inniskeen on Sunday last as we beat Carrick Emmetts by 3 points after extra time to win our first ever Intermediate Championship and spark off jubilant celebrations that lasted well beyond the Bank Holiday Monday. Well done to everyone involved from players to management to committee members and sponsors in the run up to the big day. What an achievement – take a bow all!! Intermediate Champions 2023!! Full match report in sports section at back of paper.

Ulster Championship

On the back of our IFC success we will play in the Quarter Final of the Ulster Intermediate Championship on Sunday 12th November against either Teemore Shamrocks (Fermanagh) or Liatroim (Down) at a venue yet to be decided.

Championship Final Breakfast Morning

Thanks so much to all our sponsors who donated to our Breakfast morning last Sunday. We had a great turn-out and none of it would have been possible without the help of our committee & club members who helped out on the day.

Luke (Big Louis) Cunningham RIP

We said goodbye to Luke Cunningham last weekend as he passed away from this life and how fitting it was to win an Intermediate Championship in his honour the day before his funeral. Indeed it was brilliant to see every one of the players there to form a guard of honour for him as his funeral cortege made its way past our GAA grounds on Monday morning last. There would have been no prouder man in Killanny to have seen that cup won than Luke. Luke was a lifelong member of Killanny Geraldines and during his tenure held most positions within the club. He was also our delegate to the county board for a number of years. On behalf of the county he acted as steward at Ulster Championship matches and when required he filled similar roles at Croke Park. During his years Luke served in a most unselfish manner. He was a most popular person also serving in his role of postman around Carrickmacross and those that knew him are greatly saddened at his passing. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h’anam dílis
