Intermediate Championship: On a balmy Saturday evening it was disappointing end to our rd.4 Championship fixture at home to Killanny last Ssturday evening with Killanny taking the two points. However, there is still a knockout spot there for the taking and the Championship is in our own hands, so it is important that the team are strongly supported on Sunday when we travel to Threemilehouse to take on the Sean’s in our last group fixture. Please show your support for this vital clash.

U17’s: Training continues as normal. They played Castleblayney last Tuesday night in Emyvale. A good game of football but unfortunately the game went the way of Castleblaney. Next fixture is away to Carrickmacross on Sunday 1st October.

U15’s: Training as normal. The lads dug deep last weekend to overcome Tyholland by a single point to put them 2nd in the group after 4 games. This is a huge achievement by this group of lads and management. Playing in Div 2 championship is no easy task with a small panel to work with. They now must wait and see how other results go in remaining games but things looking good for the lads

U11’s: Training as normal. They played away to Tyholland on Tuesday evening in Liam Stirrat League and did extremely well.

U9’s: have some challenge games this week v Truagh and then off to Rockcorry for the new go games on 16th of Sept, still plenty of football – good luck guys

U7’s: the kids had a great day out last Saturday at a go games blitz in Currin… Emyvale had 2 teams on the day and Currin and Rockcorry made up the other teams. Great day out by all

Senior Ladies: Our Senior Ladies team bowed out of the 2023 CombiLift Senior Championship at the semi-final stage last Sunday afternoon, when they suffered a defeat to Emmet Óg at St. Oliver Plunkett Park, Emyvale.

In a physical game played in sweltering temperatures, very little separated the teams in the first half, with the Emyvale girls down by just two points at the break after a penalty opportunity was missed just on the stroke of halftime, which would have given them a one-point advantage. However, the visitors came out even stronger in the second half with a flurry of scores, and it was just too much of a lead to claw back for our girls. Overall, there were some really good performances, with our more seasoned players leading the way for some promising younger players who have made their mark in the senior ranks in 2023. Full-time score: Emyvale LGFC 1:08 Emmet Og Ladies 2:11

Minor Ladies: Our Minors are in Championship action this week, with a semi-final taking place on Wednesday, 13th September, where we take on the Truagh Ladies. There was no result at the time of printing, but we hope the result has gone our way.

Under 16 Girls: Another championship outing is in store for our U16 girls, and this time they are on the road to Inniskeen, where they will play on Wednesday, next 20th September. The girls already met in the league earlier this season in a

toughly fought contest, so we’re hoping they can overcome them and continue on their championship journey.

Under-14 Girls: It was a case of mixed fortunes for our U14 players this week. Our Division 2 team contested the Division 2 League Final in an exciting game in Truagh, where they met the Monaghan Harps. It was certainly a game of two halves, where our girls struggled to get to grips with the game in the opening half and went in at the break 6 points down on a score line of 1:05 to 0:02. A reenergised team emerged in the second half, which saw them hold the Harps girls to only scoring two points in the second half. However, the 1:03 that our girls scored just wasn’t enough to ensure victory, and after a gruelling game in hot temperatures, they lost by two points. No-one can fault the effort and work rate that these fantastic young girls have put in, so they should all be extremely proud of themselves for what has been a great season for them all. Final Score: Emyvale 1:05 Harps 1:07

Meanwhile, our U14 Division 3 team started their Championship campaign on Monday evening, and again, it was the Harps who provided the opposition. In another local derby, our girls took a while to settle into the game and found themselves two points down at halftime. Not to be deterred, they regrouped, opened the second half with two fantastic goals, and made their way into a comfortable lead that the Harps couldn’t catch up on. A great team performance by all players, so we look forward to the next Championship day out! Final Score: – Emyvale 6:07 Harps 2:09
