Seniors: It was a disappointing result for our seniors on Saturday afternoon as they fell to a 0-11 to 2-14 defeat to Scotstown in their third championship group game. Played in sweltering conditions Donaghmoyne put in a lot of effort against the breeze in the first half and seemed to be heading into half time trailing by only two points when they were dealt a sucker punch deep into injury time. With 30 minutes gone Donaghmoyne had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down and were awarded a 13 yard free. From the restart Scotstown worked the ball into the Donaghmoyne square and were awarded a penalty which was converted by Jack McCarron in the 35 minute.

The early exchanges in the second half were evenly contested with Donaghmoyne trying to narrow the 5 point halftime deficit. Ten minutes into the second half and trailing by 4 a quickly taken Garland free released Declan Courtney who broke into the Scotstown box but unfortunately his goal bound effort was blocked and the visitors broke down the field to extend their lead. Donaghmoyne continued to push forward but were caught on the counter in the 17th minute when Scotstown scored their second goal to effectively close out the game. Donaghmoyne worked hard to retrieve the situation and had another goal bound effort blocked on the line in the last 10 minutes but they were unable to overcome the concession of the two Scotstown goals.

The final group game is this coming Sunday away to Magheracloone at 5.00pm.
