Castleblayney Faughs Club Notes 26.10.2023

October 31st, 2023

Congratulations to our minors as they won the U17 Div 1 Championship on Sunday past in Clones.
Preceding the county senior final and played in glorious sunshine the lads took on Carrick and both teams did not disappoint in an exciting end to end game.
The Faughs got off to a great start and quickly went 4 up, but Carrick hit back.  In a flash we were 1-02 to 2-03 down within the first 10 minutes.
But these lads did not lie down and fought back to be only down by 2 points at half time, 2-05 to 1-06.
The lead changed hands a few times in the second half until the Faughs pulled away in the last 10 minutes and did not take the foot off the accelerator.
Final score Faughs 1-15, Carrick 2-09.
A great result that ties up the double after this team won the league earlier in the season.  The boys now go onto compete at the St. Paul’s tournament representing Monaghan.
Our seniors lined out in the Intermediate League Final on Saturday past in Inniskeen
In an underwhelming performance the lads never got going against a hungrier Cremartin side and lost out on a final score Faughs 0-07, Cremartin 2-08.
This was the last game of the season.
A good win for our U14 girls development team over Monaghan Harps last Saturday morning. The teams were evenly matched throughout, our girls worked hard to the end and ensured a place in the semi-final away to Donaghmoyne this Saturday at 11am. All support welcome.
Operation TransFAUGHSmation continues this week;  well done to everyone taking part – keep up the great work.
