Support would be greatly appreciated
U16 girls: On Monday 4th September our U16 girls played the 1st round of the division 1 championship, beating Tyholland in a hard fought game. Well done girls 👏. They now play Aughnamullen at home in the division 1 championship semi-final on Wednesday 20th September @ 6:15pm.
U15s had a good week with two wins. First up the Div1 team hosted Carrickmacross, this was a very entertaining game with both sides playing fast, attacking football. A strong showing in second half by Carrick opened up a lead but Blayney fought back to take a 3pt lead, a late rally from Carrick got this back to 1 but the home side held out for a narrow win. Despite the win, the Div1 side can’t progress to the semi finals.
The Div5 side had a better result and have reached the championship final. They faced a strong Aughnamullen side in Blayney in very warm in conditions on Sunday last. The team put in their best performance of the year at both ends of the field, defending very well and took their chances at the other end to hold out for a very solid win. They await details on the final in the coming week.
U12 girls. Our u12 B team did the club proud when they overcame Carrick in a tense semi final on Friday last played in front of a big crowd at St. Mary’s Park. The Faughs girls lead throughout but credit to Carrick who never gave up, came back to draw level near the final whistle. In extra time the Faughs girls went on to dominate the play and went on to claim a place in the Division 4 final. Well done to the girls on what was a brilliant team performance. Keep an eye on social media for details of the final where the girls will need plenty of support.
