The Blues started strongly and after 7 minutes were a goal up from a well placed penalty converted by Jack McCarron after Ryan O’Toole was brought down. Aughnamullen responded promptly closing their deficit to a point making the score 1-0 to 0-2, but Scotstown extended their lead to 4 points with fine points by Damian McArdle, Darren Hughes, Jack McCarron (2) and Shane Carey making the score 1-5 to 0-4 after 20 minutes. Scotstown extended their lead further with 2 brilliant points from play, one each from Ryan O’Toole and Conor McCarthy making the half time score 1-7 to 0-5. However Aughnamullen made a spirited comeback and were 3 points behind on 10 minutes after a goal and a point. The Blues found an extra gear and restored a 6 point lead with 3 excellent points by Michael McCarville, Rory Beggan (from Free) and Ryan Malley making the score 1-12 to 1-6 after 17 minutes. Scotstown defended their lead well and with further well placed points by Darragh Murray and Shane Carey went into injury time maintaining a 6 point lead. A superb goal by Killian McKenna in injury time booked the Semi Final spot making a full time score Scotstown 2-14 Aughnamullen 1-8. Well done to the team and management.
