On Saturday past we travelled to Cremartin of the back of 2 wins over Doohamlet and Clones in the IFC.
In a low scoring half where we kicked a few wide we went in 5 points down 0-06 to 0-01.
We improved our scoring rate in the second and at one stage had the difference down to 2 points, but at the final whistle Cremartin were the Victor’s, 0-10 to 0-08.
We have a few weeks break before we face Monaghan Harps at home in the final round robin game.
Well done to both our victorious u17 boys and u14 girls who overcame Scotstown and Donaghmoyne respectively in their league finals on Monday past.
It is great to see more silverware coming back to Castleblayney.
Both teams can now concentrate and look forward to their championship campaigns.
The U15s came away with a draw in their opening championship on Thursday evening last at home. Despite been a head at half time and for large parts of the second half, Clontibret got on top and made it count to go 2 ahead before a late Blayney goal put them back ahead before a free in allowed the visitors to draw. The team travel to Truagh this Thursday in the Div1 competition, while the Div5 team travel to Donaghmoyne on Friday.
Well done to our Two U15 players Tristan Nugent and Harry McQuillan who played for Ulster last week V Dublin.
U12 girls: The B team played a challenge match against the U10’s last Friday evening. It was a excellent game which displayed great skill and team play. The B’s now enter a 3 way play-off to get the Div 4 final. Inniskeen, Carrick and ourselves all finished on the same points. This Saturday we travel to Inniskeen and then on Wednesday the 6th of September we host Carrickmacross. The A team travelled to Donaghmoyne for a Sunday morning challenge match. The team put in a huge effort against a physically bigger team. Their effort was rewarded with some fantastic scores. Another challenge is TBC for Wednesday evening. Keep up the great work girls.
The u11 boys played in a tournament in Dromintee on Sunday. They went toe to toe with some of the biggest clubs in Ulster. A big thanks to Dromintee Gaa Club for hosting an enjoyable days football.
The U10 Girls played a challenge against the u-12’s on fri evening. It was a great run out and both sides benefitted from the exercise. Training continues on Monday and Friday evenings at 6pm. All new players welcome.
The U10 boys played Scotstown on Sat morning at home in the Liam Stirrat Cup. The lads put in a great performance from start to finish. Training continues on Thursdays at 6pm and Sat mornings at 10am.
Our u9’s had a fantastic challenge game with Aughmamullen Saturday morning, thank you to Aughnamullen for hosting it. Well done to the lads on showing some excellent skills and determination. Training continues on Thursday night from 6 to 7 with another blitz this Saturday in Carrickmacross at 10am.
The castleblayney faughs Maurice Hanratty open singles golf competition was held in the Concra Wood Golf course on Friday, 25th Aug. Under the morning sunshine, the first tee off was at 7am, and the 100+ golfers continued teeing off until 3.30pm. The course was in spectacular condition. The winners returned with 39pts, in 1st place Charles (Chuck) Callan, 2nd place Aaron McNamara, 3rd place Noel Gorman, the nearest the pin was won by John Adair with a hole in 1 on the 14th hole, the best gross was won by Mickey mchugh, longest drive was won by Kevin O’Hagan., and the Ladies prize was won by Dorren Quinn.

Can u all please make sure the field is clear of juvenile nets, flags, bottles, and any loose rubbish. On the main field and new field, the goal nets need to be raised and tied up (string provided).
