Seniors: Our seniors played their first game of the Senior Championship on Saturday evening last at home to Latton, where they were beaten on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-07. This was a game which the boys will feel they could and should have came away with a win in the end. The visitors got off to a flying start and fired four unanswered scores before the ten minute mark. For each of our scores in the first half, they were met by multiple Latton points which put them in a healthy position at the half time break, leading 0-08 0-03. An inspired Aughnamullen team came out in the second half and started about eating into the Latton lead. Scores from Micheál Bannigan and Tiernan Duffy, among others, closed the gap and coming into the final quarter there was just two points separating the sides with momentum firmly on Aughnamullen’s side. Latton did extend their lead back to three points, however, with five minutes to go a bouncing ball found Aaron McGee in the opposition square and McGee made no mistake with a corker into the top of the net to level the sides coming down the final straight. A tense final few minutes followed, however the boys were unable to find a winner and in injury time a brilliant pressure free from Latton snatched the two points for the visitors. Many positives can be taken from the spirited second half performance from the lads, and they will hope to get a win on the board this Sunday when they travel to Ballybay to take on the County Champions at 5pm. Come along and support the team in this big game. Best of luck to the team and management.

*Summer Camp 2023*

Aughnamullen Summer Camp 2023 done and dusted and what a wonderful week we had!

The club were delighted to have hosted a phenomenal number of children and coaches this year!

For it to be possible to accommodate the camp and these numbers takes both organisation and help from the community.

A huge thanks to our organising committee Angela Duffy, Bea McArdle, Briege Sheridan, Yvonne Murtagh, Finbarr Crowe, Noeleen Deery and leader of the organisational order of each day and keeping us on our toes Annie Hannaway!

Thanks to our coaches, who ensured the children were safe and that each day ran smoothly while the children all had fun and were all included in the activities. You’re all a credit.

A massive thank you to our car park stewards Seamus, Tommy, Packie and Paddy who with Finbarr’s help kept the children safe in what was a busy drop off and pick up time in the car park. Also to John Hamilton for keeping the children safe and manning the gate each day for us.

Thanks to Briege and Micky Sheridan for donating the goodies for the tea breaks.

Thank you to our first aiders Jeanette O’Grady and Bernie Murtagh. Amazing what an ice pack and a packet of haribo can cure!

We were delighted to welcome our very own club and Monaghan county players, Micheál Bannigan, Kevin Sheridan and Joel Wilson who presented the certificates for skills challenges and mini leagues. Great opportunity for our juveniles to see where they may be in years to come, representing their club at county level.

A huge thanks to our chef Ollie Morrisey who came and cooked the children their lunch on the last day. Ollie is always willing and gives up his time and it’s very much appreciated.

Thanks to Gifts & Things, Carrickmacross for donating the crisps and bowls. A lovely treat for the children as they left on the final day. And to Rosie and Ian Johnston for generously allowing us storage for all our equipment.

A word of thanks to our sponsor of the bottles of water for each child who would like to stay anonymous.

A very special thankyou to Sean and Annie Gilliland for their generous donation to this years summer camp.

We are extremely grateful to KeeBride Construction who sponsored our summer camp once again this year. The club is ever grateful for your support and thanks to Angela Keenan for coming out to see the children.

Thank you to all the parents for your patience at drop off and pick up as we know it’s busy and we really appreciate you adhering to the one way system.

A little mention to the weather for being very kind to us all week, It definitely made it!

Last but not least, a thank you to all children that attended. They are all a great bunch and we really hope that each and every one of them enjoyed the week!

Just a reminder that our summer camp is organised and ran by the local community and the feedback from the children is always positive. If any parents/community members want to get involved or have any positive suggestions they are always welcome!
