2023 Monaghan Club Football Championship – Dates and Times confirmed

Dates and times have been confirmed for the 2023 Monaghan Club Football Championships. In the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship, our senior men drew Donaghmoyne, Inniskeen, Clontibret and Magheracloone and are in Group 2. The fixtures are; Sunday 13th August away to Inniskeen at 5:00pm; Sunday 27th August home to Magheracloone at 2:00pm; Saturday 9th September away to Donaghmoyne at 3:00pm; Sunday 17th September home to Clontibret at 5:00pm.

In the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship, our Junior Men drew Tyholland, Killeevan, Oram and Rockcorry and are in Group 2. The fixtures are; Friday 11th August away to Oram at 7:30pm; Sunday 20th August home to Tyholland at 2:00pm; Saturday 26th August away to Rockcorry at 3:30; and Saturday 16th September home to Killeevan at 5:30pm. We wish the players and management on both teams all the best in this year’s Championships.

Our Blues Competitive Games in the past week

Under 13s

Our Under 13 boys’ teams had no games in the past week. Our Scotstown A team next play Donaghmoyne at home in the Under 13 Division 1 Cup Competition Group A Round 12 game on Saturday August 5th at 11:00am. The Under 13 Scotstown B team next play Magheracloone away in the Under 13 Division 5 Cup Competition Group B Round 2 game on Sunday August 6th at 11:00am. The Scotstown C team’s first game is Inniskeen away in the Under 13 Division 5 Cup Competition Group B Round 1 game on Saturday August 5th at 12:45pm.

Under 15s

Our Under 13 boys’ teams had no games in the past week.

Under 17s

Well done to our Scotstown A team in their 3-10 to 1-10 win against Carrickmacross on Sunday last in the U17 Division 1 League Round 1 game. They next play Emyvale at home in Round 7 of the Under 17 Division 1 League this Thursday 5th August at 7:00pm.

Well done to our Under 17 Scotstown B team in their 3-7 to 1-4 win against Truagh at home on Friday of last week in the U17 Division 4 Seni Final game. They next play Monaghan Harps in the Final of the Under 17 Division 4 League on Thursday 17th August at 7:00pm. We wish them all the best in the final.

Junior Division 3B Reserves

Our Division 3B Reserves game against Latton away in the Reserve League Football Division 3B Round 9 scheduled for Friday of last week was called off. They next play Monaghan Harps at home on Sunday 13th August in Round 10 of the Reserve League Football Division 3B.

Senior Men League

On Tuesday of last week our Senior Men travelled to Magheracloone for the Senior League relegation playoff Semi Final. This was a tight game wit Scotstown leading 0-6 to 0-2 at half time. Magheracloone started the second half strongly and took the lead after 10 minutes 1-4 to 0-6. The following 10 minutes were tense with Scotstown regaining the lead by a point before a superb goal with 10 minutes remaining, regained a 4 point margin for the Blues. Magheracloone reduced the margin to within a kick of the ball ensuring an exciting end to the encounter, but Scotstown held their nerve winning by 1-8 to 1-5. Well done to the team and management and that concluded their Senior league campaign. Their next game is away to Inniskeen in the Championship on Sunday August 13th at 5:00pm. We wish the team and management all the best.

Junior Men’s League

Our Junior men had no games in the past week. They next play Oram away in the Junior Championship on weekend of August 13th.

Senior Ladies

Our Senior Ladies faced Donaghmoyne on Sunday last on their first league game in Round 2 of the Senior Ladies Division 1 game. The Ladies put in a tremendous performance against the Ulster champions including a stunning goal by Éabha Sherry. The final score was

Scotstown 4-8 Donaghmoyne 3-15. They next play Emmet Óg at home in Round 3 of the Senior Ladies Division 1 game at 7:00pm on Saturday 5th August.

The Monaghan Ladies Championship commences in August. The Scotstown Ladies are playing in the Senior Championship and are in Group A along with O’Neill Shamrocks, Emyvale and Corduff. Their first game is against Corduff at home in Round 1 on Saturday 19th August at 7:00pm.

Under 18 Girls

Well done to our Under 18 Scotstown A girls team who defeated Tyholland away in the Under 18 girls Division 1 League Round 4 game on Thursday of last week. They next play Magheracloone at home in Round 5 of the Under 18 girls Division 1 League on Thursday 10th August at 7:30pm.

Under 16 Girls

Hard luck to our Under 16 Scotstown A girls in their defeat against Magheracloone away in Round 8 of the Under 16 girls Division 1 League on Monday last. They next play Killanny at home in Round 9 of the Under 16 girls Division 1 League on Monday 7th August at 7:30pm. Well done to our Under 16 girls Scotstown B girls who defeated Monaghan Harps at home in the Under 16 girls Division 2 League Round 3 game on Tuesday of last week. They next play Emyvale at home in the Semi Final of the Under 16 girls Division 2 League on Tuesday 1st August at 7:00pm.

Under 14 Girls

Our Under 14 Scotstown girls had no games in the past week.

Under 12 Girls

Well done to our Under 12 Scotstown A girls team in their win against Aughnamullen away on Saturday last in Round 1 of the Under 12 Division 2 league. They next play Inniskeen away this Saturday 5th August at 11:00am in Round 4 of the Under 12 Division 2 league. Our Under 12 Scotstown B team had no games in the past week.

Our Blues Upcoming Competitive Fixtures for the Week

On Tuesday 1st August our Under 16 girls Scotstown B girls play Emyvale at home in the Under 16 girls Division 2 League Semi Final game at 7:00pm.

On Thursday 3rd August our Under 17 Scotstown A boys play Emyvale at home in Round 7 of the U17 Division 1 league at 7:30pm.

On Saturday 5th August our Senior Ladies play Emmet Óg at home in Round 3 of the Senior Ladies Division 1 game at 7:00pm. On Thursday 10th August our Under 18 Scotstown A girls play Magheracloone at home in the Under 18 girls Division 1 League Round 5 game at 7:30pm.

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €9,400!!

In the July 26th draw there was no Jackpot winner this week. Numbers drawn on the night were 8,10, 21, 31. We had 3 Lucky Dip winners who wins € 50 each – Paraic McCague, Chloe McPhillips and Lorraine McGinnity. Congratulations! The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. There are 4 numbers to choose from a range of 1 to 31. Match the 4 numbers to win the Jackpot of €9,400. If no jackpot winner €100 is rolled over to the following week. We changed our club lotto provider from last week, if you have an auto-renew ticket on the ClubForce system please cancel it and set up a new one using the link below on our new customised ClubSpot system. You can also play the lotto using our new Scotstown GAA Club app which you can download on your App Store. Please note that all tickets purchased via clubforce that still have draws remaining have been moved over to our new platform and will be included in the Lotto until they expire. Second draw on the ClubSpot system takes place this Wednesday 9th August. Any tickets bought using the new link will only be included on that draw or draws after that date

Health and Wellbeing

Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. We recently had nutritional talks for our U13 to U16 boys and girls’ players and parents. As we now enter the summer months and the football is up and running, we will be implementing Healthy initiatives soon and will update everyone as these happen.

Scotstown GAA Golf Classic

The 2023 Scotstown GAA Golf Classic is on in Rossmore Golf Club on Friday 1st September and Saturday 2nd September. Team of 4 with 3 course Dinner €200. Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others

On Monday of last week, our Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others team travelled to Killeevan for a superb game of football. Thanks to Killeevan Ladies G.F.C for hosting and their kind hospitality. Well done to everyone involved. Gaelic For Mothers & others continues every Wednesday evening at 8.30pm in Kilmore. All welcome to come along. Great way to meet new ladies and catch up with a bit of fun. As there is no competition for the group there is no pressure to attend every week. You can join in at any stage and come when it suits you. You need to be over 25 and living in the parish. Why not come all and give it a go!!

6th Annual Run to Remember – Gary Askin

A 5k Run / walk in memory of the late Gary Askin will take place this Friday 4th August, starting at Emyvale GAA grounds, at 7:00pm sharp.
