Senior Reserves

In a busy week for this team we began with a home tie against Cremartin on Tuesday last. Once again it was a mix of age and beauty on the team as we settled into, what turned out to be, a winning combination. A tight encounter but the lads stuck to their task well. With nothing in it at the break the second half would tell the tale. Some excellent points pushed on the scoreboard for the Seans and established a lead, that despite a late rally, would not be caught. Another win and a semi final with Aghabog was the reward. This game had home advantage for our neighbours Aghabog on Saturday evening. However, with wind and rain battering the players and fans it was all set for a dogged encounter. Once again our veteran players guided the younger pups into getting to grips with the game and conditions. An early lead gave the Seans the advantage which they held onto tightly. A brace of goals made life difficult for the opposition and throw in the monsoon conditions and it became very untidy. That said, we maintained our game plan, and closed out a very notable victory to reach the League Final in two weeks time. Hopefully this will be sufficient time to have the hamstrings restrung and tired bodies recuperated. Well done lads and management on a great week.

Senior Ladies

Our League final hopes with Killeevan fell somewhat short on Sunday last. In awful weather conditions the Ladies tried incredibly hard to compete against a well organised outfit in Killeevan. The girls started brightly with a couple of points but once the opposition found their rhythm the were very hard to contain. Our best efforts were snuffed out and we struggled to convert the few chances we had. That said they never gave up and tried their hardest to break the lines. Killeevan eventually closed out the win and well done to them. Hard luck to the players and

management as their efforts could not be questioned and hopefully this will make them stronger for the championship.

U13’s

Hard luck to the 13’s who were beaten by Currin on Saturday. They were well in contention for much of the game but the home team managed to pull away in the second half.

U15’s

A hearty congratulations to our U15’s who were victorious in Division 4 Shield final last Thursday against Ballybay. In a comeback, not seen since Lazarus reappeared, the lads snatched the win from the jaws of defeat. Ballybay provided stiff opposition on the night and galloped into a lead that we struggled to contain. A six point advantage at half time was surely a hill too high to climb, but how wrong we were. The grit and determination by the lads was heartwarming as they picked off scores , closed out the opposition, and tackled like their lives depended on it. The result of this was a memorable victory by three points. Congratulations to Captain Sean Ward, the team and their management on the win as it proved, once again, that its never over until its over.

U17’s

Another home game for us had Aghabog visit on Sunday morning last. This was a top of the table tussle, and the first half was fully evident of this. Scores exchanged for the half hour left the sides level at the break. However, a rejuvenated Aghabog, resumed the second period, much quicker than the Seans and they peppered our defence with attacks and capitalised with scores. The score maybe flattered to deceive slightly as our efforts did continue to the final whistle, however it wasn’t enough. The first defeat of the league for the lads and a definite wakeup call on areas that need improving if we are to succeed.
