Intermediate: Our Senior team travelled to Toome last Friday evening in a determined manner to take the spoils and more importantly the points. Toome took an early lead with a point after 3 minutes before Emyvale replied in quick fashion with a point closely followed by a second point within a two-minute blitz.

But on 13 mins Emyvale hit the game’s first goal with a strike by Niall Mc Kenna and within two minutes Aidan Mc Kenna backed this up with another blistering goal to leave the visitors going into half time leading Toome 0:8-2:5 Emyvale. The second half started with Toome replying with two points before Emyvale cancelled those out with two points. Once again Toome came back with a brace of points to narrow the gap to two points. But Emyvale dug deep again and went for the juggler and Niall Mc Kenna showed his class with a Kerry’esque goal, catching, turning with a solo before rasping into the top corner of the net from 25 mtrs to get Emyvale’s third goal to stretch the lead to 5 points. Toome replied with a goal, but Emyvale closed the game out to win on a score of Toome 1:12-3:08 Emyvale. A fantastic win away from home and two points gained. Next fixture is the final game in the league rounds, a derby game v Monaghan Harps on Saturday evening at 7pm. It would be great to see a big crowd making the short journey to Monaghan to cheer on our lads against the Harps.

The 2023 Intermediate Championship Draw was held on Monday with the games as follows:

August 13th: Bye

August 20th: Emyvale v Toome

August 27th: Carrickmacross v Emyvale

September 9th: Emyvale v Killanny

September 16th: Seans v Emyvale.

Reserves: Next league fixture is away to Drumhowan at 8pm on Tuesday. The Crawley Cup Final v Ballybay will be on Friday 14th at 8pm.

U17’s: Training is every Tuesday and Thursday from 8pm to 9pm in Tully. Hopefully the first game will be on Monday the 10th of July at home v Blayney at 6:45pm. Good luck to all involved, it’s been a long few months since training started back in January, and it will be great to get some football played.

U15’s: training is every Monday and Wednesday from 6:50pm to 8pm in Tully. Thye lads had a strong win away to Latton last week, winning on a scoreline of Latton 2:10-7:16 Emyvale. Please note this has been incorrectly posted on the

Monaghan GAA website as a Latton win, but it was a Emyvale win. There’s no U15 game this week. Good luck to the Emyvale lads taking part in the U14 development squad trials.

U13’s: Training resumes Monday and Thursday nights from 7 to 8pm. Last Thursday the 29th of June will be one to remember for a long time , when our U13’s were crowned U13 Div 3 Cup winners, end score was Emyvale 8-06 to Oram 3-07, it was a tight first half with Emyvale taking a good early lead but Oram came back into the game for the last 10 minutes off the first half to leave it at 4-03 to 3-04 at the break, which was only a 2 point margin. The Emyvale lads settled in nicely when the second half started and got back to scoring again and pushed on with score after score. Emyvale’s substitutes all made a big difference in the second half when they were introduced. Oram did come back with some fine scores but only managed another 3 points in total in the second half, which showed how well Emyvale Defense battled to the end, so not to allow Oram into any scoring positions. The lads dug deep for the last 15 minutes of the second half and added more scores and were delighted to hear the final whistle and were very much deserved winners. Well done to one and all and to the management team. Great to see the first league silverware this season. Championship is next up for these young lads

U11’s: Training is every Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 8pm in Tully.

U9’s: Training will be every Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 8pm in Tully. More go games to come for this age group

Inter County news: A massive day for the entire county will take place this Sunday when Monaghan meet Derry in Armagh at 1pm for the All-Ireland Minor Championship final. We would like to wish Emyvale lads Mathew, Andrew and Johnnie along with Conor Forde and the rest of the team, panel and management team all the best this Sunday. It will definitely be a great game of football. Good luck Monaghan and enjoy your day. Let’s get out and support our lads every step of the way!

Our county Senior team also having an amazing Championship by reaching their minimum seasons target by qualifying for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Semi-Final following a nail-biting penalty shootout v Armagh last Saturday. This was a game that Monaghan did not get the respect or credit they deserved from the mainstream media. Monaghan controlled this game for large parts, created more scoring chances and forced Armagh to play the game on Monaghan’s terms with a controlled performance full of concentration, defiant defence and top-class score taking. Karl Gallagher and Ryan Mc Anespie both played major roles and can look forward to Saturday 15th when they will take on the Dubs in Croke Park with confidence.
