Intermediate League

We journeyed to Castleblayney on Friday night last for round eight of the league. A drizzly night left the surface slippy but we settled into the conditions early and moved the ball well to engineer scores. A quick penalty call was dispatched and along with another fisted effort we were four points in front as we approached half time. The second period started with a sucker punch as the Faughs punctured our net in the first few minutes. There followed a brace of points and suddenly we were back in catch up mode. Effort was not in short supply as the lads pushed their opponents hard but with no reward in converted scores. Our two points in the second half fell short of what was needed and Castleblayney had turned their four point deficit at the break to a four point win at the final whistle. Carrickmacross will be our visitors on Friday night for round nine.

Mens Senior Reserve League

It was derby time on Tuesday last when Aghabog were our visitors for the Reserve League. In a tense and edgy affair, the Seans stayed in touch with their opponents for first half and were only marginal behind at the break. Once again, many veterans rolled back the years and pulled on the jersey to take part. However, regretfully, the soul was willing, but the muscles were weak, and we suffered a couple of casualties to the dreaded strains and sprains. That said, we were undeterred and pushed hard to bring the scores level at the death of the second half. A number of chances to win went a begging and we had to settle for a draw. Once again, the game , was thoroughly entertaining with a bit spice added in the local rivalry.

U18 League Final

Best of luck to our U18 squad and management as they take on Óglaigh Naomh Buach on Thursday at 7.30pm in Drumhowan. This team has battled hard all season and have been rewarded with a final spot. We encourage everybody to come out and support them in their hunt for the first silverware of the year.
