Juvenile All Ireland Semi-Finals. Saturday morning past we headed up to Kingscourt for the Juvenile All Ireland Semi-Finals, representing club and county we had Donnacha Mc Cluskey who was partnered by Ethan Mc Carron from The Monaghan Harps club in the boys U17 All Ireland Doubles Semi-final, there they faced Rody Morrissey & Daithi Colleran from Waterford, the day’s proceedings didn’t go the way we wished as the Waterford boys claimed victory 21-7, 21-11, the Waterford pairing were a steady pairing and picked any loose balls or half kills and just picked our boys off at every opportunity, Ethan was very steady on the right and grew as the campaign went on, from Donegal then Antrim and the Ulster final against Tyrone but his best performance was in Kingscourt and returned all with purpose, Donnacha’s game never got going on Saturday, his killing game never materialised, and the boys were punished at any slight mistake by the boys “on Phort Lairge”, and especially Rody on the left, he was very steady with a lot of paddle kills into the left corner and this was our un-doing, on another day and with us performing better I would have no doubt it would have been a different result but we must learn to get our performance on the “day”, hard luck boys just not on the day but well done through the Ulster run and well done on the build up to all games for travelling and putting in the effort, also hard luck to Calum Sherry who lost his U16 Singles All Ireland Semi-Final to Mathew Coughlan from Clare and to Niamh Mc Elwain who lost her U17 Singles All Ireland Semi-Final to Norma Kerrisk of Cork, a valiant effort from all concerned, all done the “Blue & White” proud.

Juvenile Leagues. All the juvenile leagues have now been completed and when Eoin has complied the winners list “all players” will be invited for a presentation night and all winners will get their medals, we are possibly looking at next Friday evening the 31st of March, but a message will be sent out via the groups, so hope to see a big attendance!!.

Adult Club Competitions. Monday evening past we had the conclusion the club handball season, we had the last two remaining adult club doubles finals, in the “The Scarna Inn Cup” Intermediate Doubles final we had Karl Mc Meel & Damon Hughes v Brian Connolly &

Chrissy Meehan, then in the “Treanor Memorials Cup” senior final we had Patrick Mc Kenna & Joe Kelly v Fergal O Neill & Jake Mc Geough, first to play were Karl & Damon against Brian & Chrissy, this was a game for “long life battery players” as it went to a 3rd game, having taken the first game 21-11 Karl & Damon seemed to be dictating play and was in control but in the second game Brian & Chrissy had a different idea as they came out all guns blazing and at one stage lead 15-4 and with some long rallies throughout took it 21-13 to force the tie-breaker, the 3rd was nip and tuck throughout with no team taking any sort of a significant lead but Karl & Damon just managed to get the few last points to secure the win 21-18, a great game boys, then much later than billed the senior final between Fergal & Jake against Paddy & Joe began, the first game no team gave an inch and with 13 switches of serve proved it, but Fergal & Jake just found those few extra shots to get over the line 21-19 with some great rallies throughout, in the second Fergal changed tack with his serve throwing up a slow lob serve to right wall just falling off the back wall at no pace and Paddy & Joe could nothing more than throw back up on the wall and this was playing perfectly into Fergal hands as he smashed everything than came close to the front and in doing so they won the second game and title 21-7, 2 great games to close the club season boys well done!, again a big thanks to all our sponsors who continue to support us throughout every season.

Adult County Doubles. Good luck to all club members taking part in the county adult doubles, all fixtures are out, make sure all know their opponents and venue of game well in advance, keep an eye on all fixtures and updates as they come out.

Adult Ulster Doubles. Good Luck to Aoibhinn Mc Cluskey & Fiona Flood as they play in the Ladies Junior B Ulster Doubles this weekend in St.Mellans (either Saturday or Sunday) where they take on Laura Tuohey & Sarah Devlin from Tyrone, if successful they play in the

Ulster final on Sunday April 2nd, also good luck to Conor Fearon partnered with Cathal Swinbourne in the Mens Junior B Doubles, this is being played tonight (Thursday 23rd) in St,Mellans @ 8:30pm, and good luck to all county players in their relevant grades throughout Ulster.
