Monaghan secured their Allianz NFL Division One status for the 10th year in a row with an amazing win away to Mayo in an epic game of football in a sun-drenched Castlebar. Monaghan’s 1st goal came after 14 minutes when Ryan O’Toole strode forward and drilled a fine shot to the net a few minutes after scoring a superb point. Mayo made a comeback in the second half, but Monaghan finished the stronger, as Conor McCarthy put their noses in front after 67 minutes with a wonderful point from range. Clontibret’s Conor McManus edged the Farney men in front further with a converted penalty and 2 points from marks making the final score 2-14 to 0-14. Well done to Jack McCarron who also scored 3 superb points (1 from play, 1 mark, 1 free). With Armagh losing to Tyrone, Monaghan remain in Division 1. We fondly remember fundraising projects in the past, such as the Scotstown Carnival in the 1960s to the purchase of our main field at Urbleshanny,
The Lord Mayor Campaign in the 1980s to fund the building of Sportlann Mhuire (the complex) and development of St. Marys Park and indeed, the ambitious purchase Of Kilmore in 1995 which has contributed to the outstanding success we achieve today.
Cairde na Botha is your opportunity to help your club continue this successful development for this generation and the next into the future. Fully paid up Members of Cairde Na Botha will have the benefit of their name engraved on the supporters’ wall at the Kilmore training grounds.
