Our Blues Competitive Games in the past week

Senior Division 1A Reserves

Our Division 1A reserves commenced their 2023 season against Latton at home on Saturday last in the Platinum Tanks Reserve League Football Division 1A Round 1 game. Well done to our Blues in their 1-8 to 0-5 win with a superb performance. They next play Magheracloone at home on Sunday 2nd April at 2:00pm in Round 2.

Junior Division 3A Reserves

Our Junior Reserves had no games in the past week. They next play Rockcorry away on Saturday 25th March at 5:00pm in Round 2 of the Platinum Tanks Reserve League Football Division 3A.

Senior Ladies

Well done to our Ladies in their excellent win against Latton at home in Round 2 of the Senior Ladies Reserve League Division 2 on Sunday last. They next play Brigid / O’Neills at home in Round 3 this Sunday March 26th at 11:00am in Kilmore.

Ulster Senior Football Club League Round 5

Well done to our Senior Blues who defeated Donaghmore GAA 0-12 to 0-9 in Roslea Shamrocks on Tuesday of last week, after turning around a 3 point deficit at half time. Thanks to Roslea Shamrocks for kindly hosting the game. That game completes our participation in the Ulster Senior League where we finished 3rd in Group D, joint on 5 points with Ballymacnab in 2nd place, and our fellow county club Latton finishing 1st. Well done to our team and management in this competition. Complete results are as follows Lavey GAA 0-6 Scotstown GAA 1-5 Sunday February 12th; Scotstown GAA 1-11 Ballymacnab GAA 2-8 Kilmore Saturday 18th February; Latton GAA 1-12 Scotstown GAA 1-8, Corduff Thursday 23rd February; Scotstown GAA 0-12 Donaghmore GAA 0-9, Roslea Tuesday 14th March.

Under 18 Minors Boys

Next Tuesday sees the start of the U18 minors season. Our Division 3 boys play Cremartin away on Tuesday 28th March at 6:30pm. We wish our Minors and management all the best for the season ahead.

Under 13 Boys

Our Under 13 boys start their 2023 competitive season this weekend. The Under 13 Spring League commences this Saturday 25th March. The Scotstown U13 A team are at home in Kilmore to Truagh at 12:15pm, the Scotstown B Team are home in Kilmore to Truagh at 11:00am; the Scotstown C team are away to Corduff at 1:30pm, and the Scotstown D team are away to Currin at 11:00am. We wish all our U13 teams and managements the very best this year.

Allianz Division 1 National Football League Round 6 Result: Monaghan 0-13 Galway 2-15

Hard luck to the Monaghan team in their 2-15 to 0-13 home defeat to Tyrone in Clones on Sunday last and to our Blues who played Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Jack McCarron,Conor McCarthy, and Ryan O’Toole, with superb scores from Rory Beggan (0-1 from 45) and Shane Carey (0-1 from mark).

Allianz Division 1 National Football League Round 7

Monaghan are next playing Mayo away in Castlebar this Sunday 26th March at 1:45pm, in a must win game to stay up in Division 1 for next year. All the best to our Blues on the County panel, Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes, Jack McCarron, Conor McCarthy, Michael McCarville, and Ryan O’Toole, and the rest of the Monaghan team, and the management. Ulster Minor Football League – Jim McGuigan Cup

Well done to the Monaghan minors in their 2-03 to 1-06 draw against Down away in the Ulster Minor Football League Group B Round 4 game on Saturday last. The minors next play Antrim away in Drumsilly in the Ulster Minor Football League Group B Round 5 game this Saturday March 25th at 12:00 noon. All the best to our Blues on the minor panel, Donnchadh Connolly, Darcy Foy, Sean Og McElwain, Max Maguire, Tommy Mallen, and the Monaghan team and management.

Monaghan Under 20 Development League

The Monaghan U20 team next play Armagh at home in Round 1 of the U20 Football Championship on Wednesday 22nd March in Castleblayney at 7:30pm. All the best to our Blues on the panel, Mark McPhillips and Seán Treanor, and the Monaghan team and management.

Monaghan LGFA Minors

The Monaghan County LGFA minor girls next play Armagh away on Saturday April 1st at 2pm in the Ulster Minor Championship Tier 1 Round 2 game. All the best to our Blues on the panel Katie McCaffrey, Ella McKenna, and Eabha Sherry, and the team and management.

Monaghan U16 Girls

The Monaghan County U16 girls next play Tyrone away on Saturday 15th April at 2pm in the Ulster U16 Championship Tier 1 Round 2 game. All the best to our Blues on the panel Trea MacCinna, Caoimhe Kelly, Michaela Grew and Shannon Corrigan, and the U16 team and management.

Monaghan U14 Girls

The next rounds of the Monaghan County U14 girls Festival of Football league takes place this weekend. Monaghan plays Fermanagh and Down on Saturday 25th March at 11:30am and 12:30pm. We wish our Under 14 player Brannagh Connolly and all the other players and management the very best.

Referee Recruitment

New referees are needed in Co. Monaghan. The number of games played in the county is increasing every year and there is a shortage of active referees. Anyone interested in refereeing at juvenile level should contact any member of the committee. Training and support will be available to any new referees.

Our Blues Upcoming Competitive Fixtures for the Week

The Big Prediction Quiz

This weekend is the final round in the popular Prediction Competition Quiz for this year’s National Football League games. First overall prize is €1,000, plus a weekly prize of €100 for score of the week. Prizes = 1st €1,000, 2nd €500, 3rd, €200. Tied scores will split the prize money. Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €5,600!!

Thanks to everyone involved in our online lotto draw for a €5,400 jackpot on Wednesday 22nd March. Please see our Social Media platforms for more details of the results.

In the March 15th draw there was no Jackpot winner this week. Numbers drawn on the night were 29, 30, 18, 3. We had 1 Match 3 winner who wins € 100 – Gerard Mc Kenna.

We also had 3 Lucky Dip winners this week of € 20 each. They were Aine Mc Kenna, Brenda Mc Carey and Nicola McCooey. Congratulations to all our winners! The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. There are 4 numbers to choose from a range of 1 to 31. Match the 4 numbers to win the Jackpot of €5,600. If no jackpot winner €100 is rolled over to the following week. Also if there is no jackpot winner there will be lucky dips. Next draw is March 29th at 8:30pm.

Ciste Draw

The March Ciste draw will take place this Saturday Night, March 25th at 10:00pm, in the Social Club. You can purchase your Ciste tickets in our local shops. There are tickets, envelopes and collection boxes in each of these shops; McMahon Centra, Scotstown; McAloons Knockatallon; XL Ballinode & Killylough. You can also purchase your Ciste tickets using the Scotstown Clubforce website and clicking on ‘buy event tickets’ link. First prize €1,000 and 5 prizes of €100 must be won. In total €18,000 in prize money is won every year!

Membership 2023 – Registration night Friday 24th March

We are having a registration night in the complex this Friday evening 24th March from 7.30pm. Membership 2023 – 10% Discount off all memberships if paid before 31st March

We are giving a 10% reduction in fees to all members. The code is applied at checkout on our Clubforce app.

A parent must register with anyone under the age of 18, therefore you will be required to include an “Adult non-playing” to the basket.

Scotstown GAA Table Quiz – Friday April 7th

There will be a Family Fun table quiz in the Scotstown Complex on Friday 9th April at 9:00pm after mass. A fun night for the family of general knowledge, music and picture rounds. Lots of spot prizes and only €10 per person (€40 for table of 4).

New Volunteers requested for Match Days

We are looking for volunteers to help with setting up pitches and dressing rooms for all match days. You will be part of a group of 3 and each group will look after a week of fixtures on a rotational basis. It is worthwhile and enjoyable work for the club.

U16 Coffee Morning

The Under 16 girls are going to have a coffee morning on Sunday 2nd April from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the Scotstown complex. All welcome and drop in for some coffee and support the girls.

Health and Wellbeing

Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. We recently had nutritional talks for our U13 to U16 boys and girls players and parents. As we now enter the summer months and the football is up and running, we will be implementing Healthy initiatives soon and will update everyone as these happen.

Our Condolences
