Ulster Senior Football Club League Result – Scotstown 1-8 Latton 1-12

Hard luck to our Senior players and management in their 1-12 to 1-8 defeat to a strong Latton side on Thursday of last week in Corduff.in the Ulster Senior Football League Group D Round 3 game. Thanks to Corfuff Gaels for hosting the game. Our Senior Blues next play Donaghmore GAA in Páirc Mhuire on Sunday 12th March at 12:00pm. We have been drawn in Group D with fellow County club Latton O’Rahilly GAA, Lavey GAA from County Derry, Ballymacnab GAA from Armagh and Donaghmore GAA from Tyrone. Results and Fixtures are as follows Lavey GAA 0-6 Scotstown GAA 1-5 Sunday February 12th; Scotstown GAA 1-11 Ballymacnab GAA 2-8 Kilmore Saturday 18th February; Latton GAA 1-12 Scotstown GAA 1-8, Corduff Thursday 23rd February at 8:15pm; Scotstown GAA v Donaghmore GAA in Páirc Mhuire Sunday 12th March at 12:00pm. Allianz Division 1 National Football League Roinn 4 Result: Monaghan 0-14 Roscommon 0-11

Well done to the Monaghan team with a superb 0-14 to 0-11 win over Roscommon in Clones on Sunday last. The Farney men put in another fine display of football securing 2 more points in the league, bringing their tally to 4 and are in 5th place. Well done to all our Blues who played Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Jack McCarron, Conor McCarthy, and Ryan O’Toole, and with superb scores from Jack McCarron (0-4 (2 from frees)), Rory Beggan (0-1 free), and Conor McCarthy (0-1).

A huge congratulations to Conor McCarthy who was awarded Man of the Match for his superb performance in the National League game against Roscommon. Well-deserved Conor.

Ulster Minor Football League – Jim McGuigan Cup

Hard luck to the Monaghan minors in their narrow 1-14 to 2-9 defeat to Derry on Saturday last in the Ulster Minor football league. All the best to our Blues on the minor panel, Donnchadh Connolly, Darcy Foy, Sean og McElwain, Max Maguire, Tommy Mallen, and the Monaghan team and management against Armagh at home in the Ulster Minor Football League Group B Round 3 game on Saturday March 11th at 12:00 noon in Clones.

Monaghan Under 20 Development League

The Monaghan U20 team next play Louth at home in Round 3 of the U20 Development League on Saturday 4th March in Castleblayney at 1:00pm. All the best to our Blues on the panel, Mark McPhillips and Seán Treanor, and the Monaghan team and management.

Scotstown GAA Table Quiz last Saturday night

Last Saturday night we hosted a table quiz in our Social Club, and it was an amazing success and a full house attended and participated. Thanks to all those who came along, participated, all those who organised the superb quiz, the sponsors of all the prizes, those who helped on the night, the bar staff and everyone else. The table quiz went into extra time and penalties and after nailing biting finish, table 14 won! Congratulations to Adrian Carbin, Cian Mohan, Jack McDevitt and James Hamill!

The Big Prediction Quiz has commenced- €2,400 in Prizes

We are having the popular Prediction Competition Quiz from previous years for this year’s National Football League games which commenced a few weeks ago.

First overall prize is €1,000, plus a weekly prize of €100 for score of the week.

Prizes = 1st €1,000, 2nd €500, 3rd, €200. Tied scores will split the prize money

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €5,000!!

In the February 22nd draw there was no Jackpot winner this week. Numbers drawn on the night were 25, 10, 16, 9. We had NO Match 3 winners this evening. The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. RTE Operation Transformation 2023 – Ireland Lights Up Walk

Many thanks to everyone involved in the 2023 Operation Transformation.

It commenced on Wednesday 11th January and ran for 7 weeks. There was also a health check again with blood pressure checks, well done and many thanks to everyone involved. The initiative involved Scotstown GAA Health and Well-being joining up with Ireland Lights Up 2023 in partnership with RTE Operation Transformation and encouraged everyone young and old, especially families / household bubbles, to get Ireland safely walking. We hosted this initiative at the Kilmore walking track at evening times, every Wednesday since early January.

Also many thanks to everyone involved in the family walk on Saturday morning during this same period.

Health and Wellbeing – Nutritional Talks

Many thanks to Derbhile Sherry, dietician, for the superb and informative nutritional presentation to the U14 and U16 girls on Monday last. Brilliant talk from one of our own senior players. As part of our healthy club initiative we are having a nutritional talk for U14 to U16 girls and U13 to U15 boys and their parents at the end of February. Derbhile will be presenting her talk to the U13 and U15 boys in 2 weeks.
