Ulster GAA Regional Indoor Hurling Blitz Programme 2022
Ulster GAA have organised monthly indoor hurling blitzes for U7, U9 and U11 for the Monaghan and South Down region running from 28th January to 2nd April 2022. The aim of this is to give hurling to children of this age on a semi-regular basis against teams they might not otherwise play, with an aim of developing skill level and a passion for the game.
For each blitz, the games will be 9v9 at most. Teams are asked to reduce their numbers if the opposing team has fewer numbers, for example 7v7 would be played if one team only has 7 players available. Game duration will be dependant on number of teams at the event. The goal is for teams to be playing as much as possible. The venue has 3 pitches so teams will be grouped and play against each other on the day. The next time round, groups will be changed to allow other teams to play each other. Referees on the day will be from each club. Teams should bring 12 players max, to allow more game time for all players. If you think you may be able to field two or more teams, please get in contact and we will try to accommodate for that.
The blitzes will be held in the DKIT Sports Arena (DKIT Sport, Marshes Upper, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland). Due to hosting an event in a top quality venue of this calibre, each team is asked to pay £20/€20 per blitz day to help cover cost of booking. This can be paid on the day or in advance (if in advance, please contact Oisin directly).
The dates and times for these events are as follows:
U7 – Saturday 5th Feb, 5th Mar and 2nd April all at 9-11am
U9 – Saturday 29th Jan, 18th Feb and 11th March all at 9-11am
U11 – Friday 28th Jan, 18th Feb and 11th March all at 8-9:30pm*
