Seniors: We had a 1-11 to 1-6 win over Tyholland in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League last night (Wednesday).

 

Reserves: We drew at home to Ballybay in the RFL Division 1B last Friday. A Francis Lynch penalty and points from the likes of Dylan McKenna, Shane McMahon, Nathan O’Donoghue and Evan Doherty sent us in at half-time with a narrow lead, but Ballybay made a strong start to the second half to draw level. It remained that way through to the end, with scores from Shane, James McKenna and Gary White earning us a share of the spoils (1-11 to 0-14).

We have another important game away to Latton tomorrow night (Friday) at 8pm.

 

Minors: We resumed our U-17 Football League Division One campaign away to Emyvale last Sunday evening. We made a bright start, with Terence McDonald, Shay Cooney and Eoghan McGinnity, but Emyvale rallied to lead by 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time. The hosts extended the gap after the restart, but our lads put in a spirited finish, with goals from Daragh Croarkin and Dylan Ballantine and points from Adam McGarry, Shay and Eoghan closing the gap to two, but we ran out of time and Emyvale finished winners on a 1-14 to 2-9 scoreline.

The next U-17 Football League game is scheduled for Tuesday week, July 16. Our U-19s are due to host Killanny this Sunday at 2pm.

 

U-15: Our U-15 Division One team resumed their league campaign at home to Magheracloone last Thursday. After an even start to the game, Magheracloone took charge with a hat-trick of goals. Mark Clerkin, Cian Bradley, Shea Swift, Josh Kelly, Ali Galligan and Senan Cudden were on target for our lads, but Magheracloone ran out convincing winners.

Sub used: Ethan Ballantine, Michael McMorrow.

Our Division Four team were in Carrickmacross on Tuesday evening, while the Division One league continues this evening (Thursday) with an away game against Scotstown at 7.30pm.

 

U-13: Our U-13 Division Five team booked their league final place with a thrilling win at home to Scotstown in last Saturday’s semi-final. Scotstown made the better start, but scores from Jack Kierans, Daithí Devlin, Luke Swift and Shane McGarry kept our lads in touch, trailing by just four points (1-4 to 2-5) at half-time. Jack blasted a free to the net in the second half and he added an excellent flicked goal, among some other scores, while Shane and Luke also added to their tallies and Daniel Alexis also kicked a point during an exciting finish. With our back-line getting on top as the game went on, the Harps gained the upper hand to run out winners by 3-11 to 3-7.

Both of our U-13 teams have now qualified for league finals. The Division One and Division Five deciders are both due to be played on Saturday week, July 13.

 

U-11: Our U-11s continue the Liam Stirrat Development League with an away game against Emyvale this Saturday at 12 noon.

 

Cúl Camp: The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp returns to Gavan Duffy Park next week (July 8-12). See the Monaghan GAA website for more details.

 

Coaching: Our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players is up and running for 2019. The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these “early learners”. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

 

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Please contact Paudge Connolly on 085 8589135 or Rose Donnelly on 086 0825782 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

 

Pitches: We are due to host an All-Ireland Ladies Football U-16 semi-final between Louth and Armagh next Wednesday at 8pm. All help appreciated.

Training schedules for all teams are in place. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.

 

County: Hard luck to Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh and the county U-20s on their championship quarter-final defeat against Cavan last Sunday.
