Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which has now played a critical role in our club’s funding for almost 25 years: we plan to celebrate that milestone on April 28. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible.

Seniors: We started the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League with a 2-12 to 1-7 win at home to Corduff last Saturday. After an evenly-matched start, a Harps team featuring three debutants pushed into a narrow half-time lead at 0-7 to 0-4. Neil McAdam, Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Dylan McKenna and Liam Hahessy accounted for our scores. Neil added a brace of goals in the third quarter and with Michael Galligan and Dean Fanning adding their names to the scoresheet, we ran out winners to claim the five points on offer.

Team and scorers: Darragh Hannon; John Mulligan, Kevin Loughran, Conor Duffy; Oisín Fagan, Conor Galligan, Brendan Óg Ó Dufaigh; Aodhán Óg McAnespie (Capt., 0-1), Dylan McKenna (0-1); James McKenna, Lochlainn Power, Dean Fanning (0-1); Liam Hahessy (0-2), Neil McAdam (2-5, 0-2f), Michael Galligan (0-2, 1f).

Subs: Gary White for Hahessy (inj., 44 mins), Garbhan McKenna for Power (55), Niall McManus for Fanning (58), Thomas Croarkin for Fagan (59), Nathan O’Donoghue for J McKenna (60).

We make the short trip to Tyholland for round two of the IFL this Sunday, with throw-in at 3pm. Please support!

Coaching: Our recent coaching programme in local primary schools concluded with a fun day at Gavan Duffy Park last Friday. Thanks to Coaching Officers Martin Sheridan and Mel McMorrow and the coaches involved for making this a big success. Next on the agenda is the return of our Saturday-morning coaching for our youngest players from this weekend (April 6). The club is very fortunate to have a pool of hardworking and dedicated individuals who look after and coach these ‘early learners’. Our Saturday-morning activities are fun-filled and enjoyed by the children and are an equally rewarding and enjoyable experience to those who help make it happen, so we encourage anyone with an interest to get involved.

Minors: The new U-19 Football League started last Sunday with a home game against Truagh. A slow start saw Truagh build up a big lead and although our U-19s (minus a few key players) improved as the game went on, they fell short on a scoreline of 5-11 to 3-10.

Panel: Daragh Croarkin, Cathal Nally, Killian McAdam, James McKenny, Joshua Clerkin, Killian Conlon, Stephen Ward, Lorcan O’Rourke, Conor Devlin, Seán Conway, Conor McCrystal, Eoghan McGinnity, Mujtaba Gamal, Dean Doherty, Tiarnan O’Rourke, Liam Conway.

The U-17 Football League is just under a week away, with our rescheduled first game set for next Tuesday, April 9 at home to Emyvale at 6.45pm. All support welcome.

U-15: The U-15 Football Leagues start this evening (Thursday) with a Division Four game at home to Latton at 6.30pm. The Division One league is due to get underway next Thursday, April 11. Good luck to all involved.

U-13: Well done to our U-13s, who continued their good start by winning both games of last Saturday’s Division One/Division Five double-header at home to Castleblayney. Our Division One side ran out winners by 5-15 to 2-17 in a high-scoring encounter, while our Division Five lads finished the right side of a 1-13 to 2-3 scoreline.

U-11: Our U-11s continue the Spring League at home to Scotstown this Saturday at 12 noon.

Registration: Registration fees for 2019 are now due to be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60.
