March 23rd, 2019

Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 16, 19, 22 and 28. Jackpot of €1,400 won by Marie Clerkin (Currin) c/o Mary Coyle! Congratulations to Marie! Jackpot for Sunday, March 24 is €1,000 and Maria McKenna is on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which has now played a critical role in our club’s funding for almost 25 years: we plan to celebrate that milestone on April 28. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible. Please note that the 2019 Sunday-night rota is now available in the clubhouse.

St. Patrick’s Day: Our juveniles once again took part in the Monaghan Town St. Patrick’s Day parade last Sunday. Well done to the boys and girls and their mentors. Thanks to the many people who joined us in the clubhouse, to all club members for their support, the young musicians who played and everyone who brought food along on the day.

Reserves: The 2019 season has started with a busy schedule for our reserve teams. We are away to Ballybay in Division 1B on Saturday at 11am. Please note early throw-in time.

Minors: The U-17 Football League is just over a week away, with the first round now set for Tuesday, April 2.

U-13: Well done to our U-13 Division One team, who started their league campaign with a high-scoring win away to Truagh on Monday. Our lads ran out winners on a 7-10 to 3-15 scoreline to get the juvenile year off to a good start. Next up will be a Division One/ Division Five double-header at home to Castleblayney on Saturday week, March 30.

U-11: Our U-11s start the Spring League with a double-header away to Castleblayney this Saturday. The games are due to throw in at 12 noon and 1pm.

Registration: Registration fees for 2019 are now due to be paid to club registrar Kevin Treanor or in the clubhouse. Please note that all juvenile and adult players must be paid-up members. Fees are as follows: U-11s €20; juveniles/seniors €30; family membership €60.

Dates to remember: The 25th anniversary party for the club’s Lotto is planned for April 28. The Intermediate Football League is scheduled to start on Saturday week, March 30 (at home to Corduff). Our Saturday-morning coaching for juveniles is due to kick off in late March/early April. Darkness into Light will take place for a sixth time in Monaghan on May 11, 2019.

County: Good luck to the Monaghan senior footballers against Mayo this Sunday.

Pitches: Training schedules for all teams are currently being finalised. Coaches are asked to please ensure that gates and dressing rooms are locked and all equipment, bottles etc. is removed from the pitch after training sessions.

Coaching: We have begun a coaching programme in the local primary schools. Thanks to Coaching Officers Martin Sheridan and Mel McMorrow and the coaches involved in getting this up and running.

Ladies: Hard luck to the young minor team and management on exiting the Division Two Championship last Monday against a strong Killeevan team. No doubt they will regroup and look forward to the league later on in the season.
