The Gerrys prepared Veg Under 13’s Division 3 League Cup final between Emyvale and Killanny proved to be nail biting thriller in Clones. A tense and cagey opening allowed the defenses to get the better of the attack, with some great interceptions by Adam Callan and Aidan Treanor on both sides. Some great scores by Daniel Kelly and Matthew Finn kept their sides ticking over, with a key breakthrough coming via Daniel Kelly finding the net. Just as Emyvale had looked to find their composure, a rocket by Colin Murphy into the bottom left corner on the stroke of half time gave Killanny the first clear lead of the game. Just as Emyvale were up against it in the second half, a quick finish by Matthew Finn after rounding the goalkeeper narrowed the gap. Points from both sides kept the contest going, before a fantastic late scoring spree from Emyvale swung the balance of the game, scoring 2-2 each side of a goal from Killanny’s Daniel Breen. Killanny would not give Emyvale breathing space, and 3 consecutive points levelled the side, a massive score from Adam Callen being the equaliser. As the pressure was building, Kayden Keenan proved to be the hero with a last gasp finish to give Emyvale the edge in this fantastic battle, with both teams showing superb skill and desire.
