Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 5, 6, 18 and 27. Jackpot of €2,600 not won. Residual prizes: €100 Chris Conway (direct debit) c/o Owen Connell; €40 Karin Callan c/o Séamus Treanor; €40 James Greenan c/o Paddy Donnelly; €40 Anna Mohan c/o Noel Hennessy. Jackpot for Sunday, October 29 is €2,700 and Mary and Fergus Coyle are on duty. Lotto draw takes place in our clubhouse every Sunday night. All welcome. Thanks to everyone for their support for our Lotto, which plays a critical role in our club’s funding. We ask all club members to continue to promote our Lotto as much as possible.

Seniors: We fell to a narrow defeat away to Latton in the County Monaghan Credit Unions Senior Football League last Sunday. Points from Dónal Hahessy, Fearghal McMahon and Shane Smyth helped us get off to a fine start that had us 0-5 to 0-2 up by the end of the opening quarter, but we failed to take a handful of goal chances and Latton rallied to lead by 1-4 to 0-6 at the interval. Latton added a second goal after the restart and although we had plenty of possession in the remainder of the game, we could only manage another five points via Dónal (three), Fearghal and Shane, as we fell short on a 2-7 to 0-11 scoreline.

Team and scorers: Ashley White; Nicholas Scott, Conor Galligan, Mustafa Gamal; Gareth Treanor, Neil McAdam, Kevin Loughran; Aodhán Óg McAnespie, Stephen Driver (Capt.); Gary White, Fearghal McMahon (0-3, 2f), Michael Galligan; Niall Hahessy, Shane Smyth (0-2), Dónal Hahessy (0-6, 4f).

Subs: Thomas Croarkin for G White, Liam Hahessy for M Galligan (both 35 mins), Éimhín Morahan for Smyth (50), Conor Duffy for Loughran (53).

Our last home game against Magheracloone has been rescheduled for Sunday week, November 5.

Good luck: To Gaelscoil Ultain in Saturday’s rescheduled Cumann na mBunscol county final.

Fun Day: Please make sure that any outstanding balloon race cards are returned to Jimmy Croarkin or Úna Forde ASAP and that juveniles’ full cards include sizes for the new Harps training tops. Anyone who finds a balloon and code is asked to email Pro.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie (closing date: November 1).

AGM date: The club’s Annual General Meeting has been set for Thursday, November 23, with the juvenile AGM a week earlier. Nominations and motions should be sent to secretary.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie by next Thursday, November 2.

Scór: Well done to our young members who represented the club in Scór na bPáistí in Clontibret last Saturday; claiming first place in the Ballad Group, second in Instrumental Music and Solo Singing and fourth in the quiz.

Kit for Your Club: We are asking for support with the McCaughey Fuels “Kit for Your Club” loyalty rewards scheme. Our supporters can get a rewards token with every home heating oil delivery and give the token to a committee member or leave it into the clubhouse. Collecting enough tokens will qualify us for training equipment.

Gavan Duffy Park: The refurbished Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 2543511 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.
