On Saturday last our U14  hurling development squad took part in the National Hurling Blitz which was held in  Cloghan.

Our U14`s were in action in the group stages against Tyrone, and a very strong Kildare outfit. In the first game Monaghan played some brilliant hurling, and managed to win against a well-drilled Tyrone team. In the second game Monaghan and Kildare faced off, and Kildare who had a strong start to the game, secured a comfortable victory. The Monaghan team qualified for the Shield final on the back of their victory over Tyrone, where they played South Ulster.

In what was a game of two halves, Monaghan were excellent in the first half and came in 4 points up at the break. A few injuries, and a loss of momentum, the balance of the game shifted with South Ulster finishing strong and winning the match by 5 points. The team can be proud of their efforts, and there was some excellent performances throughout the day with James Slevin at Centre-Half Back, Zack McArdle at Midfield, and Mark Cassidy at Corner-Back standing out.
