Seniors

Last Saturday and it was Round 6 of the Junior Football league. Going into the game with Oram sitting behind us in the league it was never going to be a simple affair. From the word go the away side held the upper hand and soon enough they started to show the difference on the score board. Despite the efforts our lads just couldn’t get up and running and now set our sights on Clones for the next round of the league on Wednesday the 21st.

Final score

Eire Og 0-13 Oram 2-15

U12’s

Eire Og V’s Killeevan

Our Under 12’s had their 1st win of the Summer League against Killeevan on Saturday last. Killeevan started better and quickly took the lead. Scores were hard to come by and the Killeevan goalie made some great saves to keep us out, until Thomas Stevenson grabbed the score of the game by lobbing a shot over the goalie’s head that left us 5 points in front at half time.

Scores were easier found in the 2nd half as we stretched our lead. In defence Jake Lambe had a fine game while Lorcan Duffy used his telepathic super powers in order to be in the right place before the ball came. Killeevan then began to fight back with 2 quick goals leaving just 5 points in it until Dwayne Mc Aree popped over a fine point to calm things down. It was left to Nathan Mc Aree “who worked hard throughout” to top it off and slam home a superb goal in injury time. Training on Thursday at 6pm.

Ladies

Congratulations to our Emmet Og senior ladies who won the shield in the Abby fanning blitz in Monaghan harps on Saturday past. The girls were narrowly beat by Lacken and Latton in the first round but overcame Scotstown to be entered into a shield semi final. Here the girls met close neighbours killeevan. The girls fought hard and secured a win leaving them in a final against Emyvale. Nerves got the better of the girls in the first half with it ending 1-05 to 0-03 to emyvale. The girls came out all guns blazing in the second half to secure a 5 point win. Team on the day: Orla Gleeson, Nicole Rooney, Rebecca Hughes, Maeve Monaghan, Katie Monaghan, Daisy Monaghan, Lauren Monagahan, Ellen Leonard and Bridin Tierney and Orla Deery. Captains: Lauren Monagahan and Bridin Tierney.

Best of luck to all the girls, doing both Junior and Leaving Cert exams.
