Latton GAA Club Club Notes – Week Beginning 2nd May 2017

Lotto Results.

Our draw was held over to Tuesday 2nd May due to Bank Holiday.

Next Weeks Jackpot €18,350.

U12’s-Our U12’S played very well Tuesday at home v Corduff and fought back in the second half but were unlucky to be narrowly defeated by 3 points.They had a great game in Spring League last Saturday and won their game Latton 0-23 – Rockcorry 0-07.

U14’S

Next Fixture is a home fixture on 6th May at 12.00 v Inniskeen.

U16’s

Our U16 had a home fixture v Donaghmoyne on Thursday last . They went down to a strong Donaghmoyne side Latton 2-04 – Donaghamoyne 3-10.They play Scotstown away this eveing at 7.30.

Minor

We played at home v Castleblayney on Tuesday 21nd May – See Results elsewhere. Next fixture us away v Monaghan Harps on 9th May 2017 at 7.30.

Senior League

Latton V truagh -Senior League-Wednesday 26th April

Latton played Truagh at home last Wednesday evening . A frantic start to the game seen both teams score 1-03 in the 1st 10 minutes with Latton’s scores coming from Hughie Mc Elroy 1-02 and Shane coyle 0-01. Latton added to their score with points from Shane coyle,Hughie McElroy and Bernard O’Brien who had replaced the injured Thonas Connolly to leave the Half time score Latton 1-06 to 1-03. The second half both teams traded points with Daire Quinn scoring a good point to leave a goal between the teams.Dillon Quinn replaced Aidan Farmer . Truagh added 3 points to level the score 1-07 each. Stephen Mc Elroy slotted over a oint but this was once again followed by a Truagh equaliser. Hughie Mc Elroy ponted from a free however Truagh found the net to leave score Latton 1-09 to Truagh 2-08.christopher Rice left the minimum between the teams with 6 minutes remaining 1-10 to 2-08. Bob levelled the scoring with 4 minutes reamining . Truagh found an extra gear and slotted over two points . Latton’s last play of the game resulted in a well taken Owen Coyle gaol to leave the Final Score Latton 2-11 to Truagh 2-10.

Centenary Jerseys

We are putting in another order for Centenary Jerseys The sizes of the jerseys are 0-6 mts – 1/2 -3/4 -5/6 – 7/8 -9/10 -10/11,13/14,S-M-L-XL-XXL.The cost is €30 per jersey and this must be given to Christina before Froday to secure order. LATTON CENTENARY CARNIVAL – FRIDAY 26th – SUNDAY 28th MAY 2017.

A brief outline of this weekend –

Official Opening takes place on Friday 26th May,in the O’Rahilly GAA Centre,with the selection of “Mr.Centenary”,a great night of entertainment,as 9 of Monaghans greatest GAA Stars,display many hidden talents,in a bid to scoop the most coveted of titles of 2017

On Saturday,27th May,doors open at 8pm,at the O’Rahilly G.A.A. Centre,as the Club host JIM DEVINE,voted Irelands”,Best Live Band 2016″,tickets are available from all club members,a great night is guaranteed.

Sunday,28th -Mass in St.Patricks Church,Bawn,A Mass of Thanksgiving and Rememberence for all who played and supported Gaelic games in the parish in the past 100 years.Emily Coyle and Jack Conlan Memorial Perpetual Tournament Finals take place at the O’Rahilly GAA Pitchs at 2pm on Sunday 28th .At 7.30pm on the evening of Sunday,28th May,”The Centenary Stone”will be unveiled by Ruth Sweatman,a grand daughter of The O’Rahilly,National and Club Patriot,with Tree Planting to be preformed by Uachtaran,C.L.G.,Aoghan O’Fearghaill.

The O’Rahilly GAA Centre will host “Brendan McCourt Live”from 8pm,with the presentation of “Centenary Player/Service Certificates”to those who played with the Club in the historic decades of the 1980s and 1990s.

LATTON CENTENARY CARNIVAL”is a weekend full of entertainment,fun,novelty and rememberence,make sure all family members and those with direct association with LATTON O’RAHILLY GAA CLUB or had family associated with the club over the past 100 years,1917-2017, are aware and invited to participate in this great celebration and rememberance from FRIDAY 26th MAY to SUNDAY 28th MAY 2017.
