Scor Ulster Final

There was no joy for Mollie McKeever in her quest for Ulster glory on Saturday night in Threemilehouse in this years final. The competition was strong and there was a great night’s entertainment  for all who made the journey. Congratulations and thanks to the Sean McDermot’s Club and the Monaghan Scor Committee who were responsible for running this fabulous event.

Senior Men

Strong performance in the first league game saw the seniors take 2 point away to Clontibret. The first 10 minutes saw the teams share 6 points. In the 10th minute Kieran Hughes placed a penalty in the bottom left just after Oran heaphy had come on for Darren. The game settled down after the that hectic 10 minutes spell and the teams shared 4 point to leave the half time score 1-5 to 0-5. The first 12 minutes of the second half saw the same pattern with the teams sharing 4 points. Next came the moment of the match when Rory Beggan split the posts from 40 yards after running unopposed up the right side of the pitch. Moments later a Clontibret player saw red after a second yellow. Again the teams shared 4 points. Scotstown added 2 points to take themselves 6 six up with 5 to  go. Final Score Scotstown 1-12 Clontibret 0-11

Junior Men

As much as the senior encounter the evening before was a tactical battle between two teams that know each other well, the Junior encounter between ourselves and Drumhowan was end to end. Two teams keen to play open fast attacking football showed what they could do. These conditions saw the team level 5 times in a first half which ended 0-9 a piece. With the help of a small breeze the boys were able to build a 3 point cushion which they held to the end. As usual the old reliables put in a steady stint, along with the newcomers, providing one of the most entertaining games you are likely to see all year. Final Score 0-17 to 0-14. By the time this report hits the paper the Junior team will have played an away game in Smithboro against Eire Og @19.00 and the seniors will have played Monaghan harps in town @ 7 as well, both games on Wednesday.

Boys U14

Mixed results for the U14 teams. The Div2 team had a strong win against Truagh while the Div 5 time battled hard but couldn’t overcome Blayney last thursday evening.
