Youth Affairs

Under 8’s-‘Go Games’ will take place in Clones on Saturday next, details will go out by text. The Under 8 and nursery training has started now on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 sharp at the pitch in Scotshouse. There has been a really good turnout for the first two weeks and of course all are welcome and spread the word.

Under 10’s-This youthful side took part in the first ‘Go Games’ blitz of the year at The Peace Link Clones on Saturday last. In games against Aghabog and Killeevan 1 & Killeevan 2 all performed very well and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Under 12’s – Currin Under 12’s will play in the Spring League Finals on Saturday 30th April at Cloghan. At time of going to print we have not been made aware of the time of our game but there will be a bus bringing the team to and from Cloghan. Details will be sent by text re bus departure and return to village times. All support is appreciated, but it is unlikely that the bus will be able to accommodate additional passengers.

Under 14’s – Division 3

Patrick Emmett’s put on a really strong display against Doohamlet on Saturday 23rd April in Scotshouse to make it three wins from three. Patrick Emmett’s dominated the early encounters and in effect the game was all but over by half

time with an interval score of 6 06 to 0 01. All players got a good run in the second half and the game finished on 9 10 to 3 10. The next game is an away trip to table toppers Drumhowan on Saturday 6th May at 12 noon. All support would be appreciated.

Under 16’s – Division 3

Patrcik Emmett’s went down narrowly last Thursday evenin to Carrickmacross at Aghbog. In a game that could have gone either way we lost out by four points on a scoreline of 2 14 to 6 06. Our next game is an away match at Cremartin on Thursday 27th April (hhis evening) at 7:30pm

Well done,

The two Currin representatives that came out of the draw, for the trip to Croke Park were Eoghan Molloy and Ronan McPhillips. The pair of lads joined two busloads of other 11/12 year olds from across the county and all had a great day, playing a number of games on the pitch and went on a tour of the museum and the stadium.

Seniors

Two re-fixed games were played last week. A large local crowd attended a very enjoyable and evenly contested encounter in Aghabog on Wednesday evening when a first half Stephen Smith goal gave us the edge and with Paul Rudden and Colm Mc Caffrey commanding at the back the home side had difficulty getting scores. Towards the end, Niall Mc Entee finished a great move to seal the result and give us a deserved four point win. Final score, Aghabog 1-10, Currin 2-11. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Colm Mc Caffrey, Paul Rudden, Conor Mc Caffrey, Enda Mc Caffrey, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, Paddy Mc Dermott, Dick Clerkin,0-3, Eoin Morrow,0-1, Ben Clerkin, Ciaran Kearns, Ronan King,0-1. Dara Brady, Stephen Smyth, 1-6, Niall Mc Entee.1-0. Subs, Johnny O Connor for Dara Brady.

Killeevan came to Scotshouse on Saturday evening with a relatively young team who really ‘put it up’ to us in the first half in an excellent contest. The second half began with Dick Clerkin and Stephen Smith combining well to see us take a commanding lead and our experience saw us run out convincing winners in the end. It was great to see Dylan Greenan return and score after his A.C.L. reconstruction and rehabilitation. Also well done to Hughie Reilly and Conor Beatty who both got on the scoresheet. Final score, Currin 2-16. Killeevan 0-8. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Colm Mc Caffrey, Paul Rudden, Conor Mc Caffrey, Enda Mc Caffrey, 0-2. Ciaran Mc Caffrey 0-1, Paddy Mc Dermott, Dick Clerkin,0-6, Eoin Morrow, Ben Clerkin, Ciaran Kearns, Ronan

King, Dara Brady, Stephen Smyth, 1-3, Niall Mc Entee.0-2. Subs, Johnny O Connor for Dara Brady. Shane O Connor for Ronan King, Hughie Reilly, 1-0, for Jason Mc Kiernan, Conor Beatty, 0-1, for Dick Clerkin, Dylan Greenan,0-1, for Niall Mc Entee.

Next game is away to Drumhowan on Sunday at 3.00 p.m. Please note the throw in time.
