Ballybay Pearse Bros Notes

Senior Football League Division 1 Round 1 Ballybay 2:13 Latton 2:15

This tightly contested game at Pearse Park ended with the visitors winning by 2 points and Ballybay rueing some wonderful saves from the Latton goalkeeper. The home team got off to a good start scoring an early point and testing the Latton backline with a series of dashing runs. Latton settled into the game and were more economical with the ball as the game went on leaving the score level at 1:06 each at half-time. Ballybay got off to a sluggish start in the 2nd half and soon found themselves down by 3 points. However, a well worked goal from Ballybay tied up the score soon after at 2:07 to 1:10. A red card for a Latton player a few minutes later could have proved a turning point in the game but a penalty awarded to the away side soon afterwards put an end to any hope of a Pearse Brothers fightback and Latton dug deep and grinded out a two point victory.
