Corduff Club Notes

Club Lotto:

This week’s Club Lotto draw was held last Sunday night in Deery’s Bar, Carrickmacross. There was no winner of the Jackpot of €8,300. Our five “Lucky Dip” winners were; Owen McGuinness, Fiona Connolly, Sean Lynch, John Sankey & Peter Connolly.

The next draw will take place on Sunday 5th March in McConnell’s Bar, Ballytrain at 9:00pm, where the Jackpot will be €8,400.

Membership:

Last call for membership to be paid to the club for the coming year. We have some great packages on offer which include entry into each Lotto draw for the year, as well as entry into all Corduff home games in 2017; beginning with the opening Reserve game this Sunday, see below.

Intermediate Team:

The provisional fixtures have been announced for the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League, with Corduff opening the season away to Doohamlet on Saturday 8th April.

Reserve Team:

The Reserve Football League Division 3 gets underway this Sunday afternoon with Corduff welcoming Clontibret to Corduff for a 2:00pm throw-in.

Inter-County Teams:

Monaghan’s footballers continued their excellent start to the Allianz National Football League with a 2-08 to 1-10 victory over Kerry in Killarney on Sunday last. Monaghan now face Tyrone in Healy Park, Omagh this Saturday evening at 7:00pm, a game which is LIVE on eir Sport 1. Monaghan’s hurlers maintained their 100% record to the start of their Allianz National Hurling League campaign, with a 1-10 to 1-08 win over Louth on Sunday. This Sunday sees the return fixture with Monaghan welcoming Louth to Inniskeen for a 2:00pm throw-in.

Committee Meeting:

Meeting will take place on Monday night, 6th March, at 8:00pm in the Heritage Room of the Corduff/Raferagh Community Centre.

Ladies

Féile Peil na nÓg 2017: The countdown to Féile 2017 is well and truly on and it promises to be an exciting weekend from the 23rd to the 25th of June. Corduff juveniles and Corduff Ladies will both host families in the Corduff/ Raferagh community for the weekend. In order to prepare for that weekend all parents and everyone over 18 in the host families are requested to attend an information evening, this evening (Thursday 2nd March) in The Heritage Room in The Community Centre @ 8pm. This is a joint effort by the Juveniles and The Ladies club. See you there and remember to bring you ID for the vetting process.

Gaeltacht Scholarships/Scoláireachtaí Gaeltachta

Ladies:

Corduff ladies opened the 2017 football season in Corduff last Saturday when the U16s hosted Monaghan Harps in the first round of the league. Despite a good effort from Corduff, Harps were victorious. The Corduff team was as follows: Chloe Finnegan, Emily Hegarty, Naoise Cunningham, Lorna Hand, Sadhbh Cassidy, Abbie McGibney, Abbie Finegan, Leah Cooney, Georgia Smyth, Kerry Anne Walsh, Annie Brennan, Kayla Hand and Holly Higgins.

Handball

Jersey Presentation/Juvenile Training:

The last Juvenile training of the year takes place this Friday evening in the Alley at 7:00pm. We ask all players to attend as there will be a presentation of the new jerseys to the juveniles.

GAA League:

The GAA League continued last week with the team travelling the short distance to Carrickmacross to face Carrick’s A. The team of Ben Woods, George McKitterick, Aidan Marron & Shane McNally came away with a 6-2 win.

The team completed their League campaign last night (Wednesday) with an away game to Monaghan. Follow the Facebook page for the Handball Club at “Corduff Handball Club”.

Corduff Singles League:

The Singles League is nearing its conclusion with unplayed games to be played before Friday 10th March. The semi-finals of the League will commence on Monday 13th March. Check out the FastCourts.com online booking service for free slots in the alley. Remember, bonus points are available for playing your game, so every point will count for you & your teammates to qualify for the semi-finals.

County Championship:

The Novice 1 Final between Peter & Ciaran Brennan will take place this weekend. Please see Social Media for details of the game.
