Table Quiz. We have had to move our table quiz that was booked for Friday night the 24th of February to Friday night the 10th of March, we were clashing with another table quiz in Emyvale on the same date for “Cancer Care” in the region, a very good cause so get out and support!!!!!!.
Ulster Juvenile Championships. It was a very successful weekend as all juveniles from the club representing the county are now in the Ulster Championship Finals, in Kingscourt were Ronan Boyle & Ryan Harnet in the U15 boys doubles, there they played a Tyrone pairing of Fiontann McNamee & Tomas Owens, the boys won convincingly 15-2, 15-3, then to Beragh where we had 4 girls in action, the U12 girls doubles of Aoibhinn Mc Cluskey and Emily Mc Ginnity from the Harps unfortunately had no game as their Down opponents never turned up so they are now into the Ulster final where they face Tyrone, in the U13 girls Emma Keenan partnered with Karolinja Kaklauskaite (Harps) defeated Ellen McKay & Eveagh Kelly from Down 15-6, 15-12, now they also face Tyrone in the final, in the U14 Doubles Sarah Lavery & Eithne Boyle defeated a Down pair of Niamh & Hannah 15-2, 15-3, this game was not on the fixtures as there was a mix up over Down’s participation in the grade, now the girls again also face Tyrone, well done to Louise Mc Ginnity who won her semi-final in Beragh in the U14 singles to progress to the Ulster Final, again a big well done to all who took part, the finals are likely to be next Sunday (19th) in Kingscourt but not yet confirmed. ( photo’s to follow over the next few weeks ).
Cumann na mBunscol. Wednesday past (the 8th) 4 girls traveled to Belfast to represent their school Deravoy NS in the Cumann na mBunscol competition, Megan McClave & Deirbhile Kenny played in the U11 girls doubles and Aoibhinn Mc Cluskey & Fiona Flood played in the U13 girls doubles, it was Megan and Deirbhile’s début into any kind of competitive action and even though they didn’t progress they done very well to win a game at the event, as this was Aoibhinns and Fiona’s 2nd year down their experience proved vital as they got to the final only to be defeated by Cavan on a score line of 11-10, 11-9, a very tight score line and in fact the girls had defeated Cavan earlier in the competition sharing a game each but coming out on top on overall scores, but never the less a great day was had by all, a big thanks must go to Gene Flood who drove the girls down and Deirdre who also traveled down to look after all, a big thanks to both.
Ulster Adult Championships. Congratulations to Michael Mc Carron and John Treanor(T) as both men played Ulster finals in Beragh on Saturday evening past the 11th and both taking home the silverware, Michael was first into the alley in the final of the Ruby Masters Final, there he faced Dave Mulhern from Donegal, Michael won in style on a score line of 21-1, 21-5, John then took to the maple in the Diamond Masters B Final where he played Anthony Mc Cann from Antrim, John also won on 2 straight games 21-14, 21-11, well done to both and good luck as you march on in the All Ireland series now.
County Adult Championships. Well done to Joe Kelly who has reached the final of Nov4 in the county championships also John Treanor (T) who defeated fellow club man Patrick Mc Kenna(PH) to reach the Junior final, this is John’s year as the finals just keep on rolling in.
Mono League. The Mono Team league semi-finals took place Tuesday night past the 14th with the final pencilled in for Sunday coming the 19th, so to all in the semi-finals good luck and a happy Valentines night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. ( full report on all next week ).
Ulster Games. Just a special thanks to all that have went down over the last few weekends and refereed Ulster games in the complex, we know it can be hard to find time nowadays, without your help these events would not run off as smooth as they do
