Seniors: We host Castleblayney in the County Monaghan Credit Unions Senior Football League semi-finals this Sunday (November 6) at 2pm. Please come along to the recently-redeveloped Gavan Duffy Park to support our senior team.

 

JFL Final: We hosted a large crowd for the Eurotech Junior Football League Final between Toome and Seán McDermotts last Sunday. Thanks to all club members who helped out on the day and to everyone who contributed to having our pitch and grounds in excellent condition.

 

Music session: Thanks to everyone who attended our Irish music session in the clubhouse last Saturday night. Well done to all the musicians who entertained the crowd on the night and to our own Enda Galligan for his talk on the history of Monaghan.

 

Scór: Scór na bPáistí (for primary-school children) will be held in Clontibret Community Centre this Saturday, November 5, at 3pm. Our young members will be competing in many of the categories. Ádh mór oraibh!

 

History social night: As part of compiling a club history, we hosted a social night in the clubhouse last Friday. Thanks to everyone who attended and shared their memories of the club and to Harry Hughes, Hugh Kearns, Mickey Treanor and Peter Daly for contributing to an interview with Enda Galligan that was shown on the night. We hope to host a repeat of this reminiscence evening: keep an eye on club notes for more details.

 

Dates to remember: The club’s Annual General Meeting has been set for Thursday, November 24, with the juvenile AGM on a week earlier (November 17). Our young members will be competing in Spraoi na bPáistí this Saturday and Scór na nÓg on Saturday, November 19. Our juvenile presentation night has been set for Friday, December 2, while we host a Tráth na gCeist next Friday, November 11. Keep an eye on club notes for more details on these events.

 

Clubhouse photos: Over the next few weeks, Pádraig Callan and Damien Morgan will be putting pictures back up in the clubhouse. If anyone has any Harps photos that they would like on the wall, please provide a copy (A4, with no frame) to Pádraig or Damien.

 

Juvenile managers: Anyone who wants to express interest in managing one of our juvenile teams for 2017 is asked to contact Damien Morgan (086 8614730) or Aideen Swift (086 1062265) by Monday week, November 14.

 

Sympathy: The club offers sympathy to Owen Smyth and family on the death of his mother, May, and to Éamonn Keelaghan and family on the death of his mother, Bernadette. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

 

Fun Day: Please make sure that any outstanding balloon race cards are returned to Jimmy Croarkin ASAP and that juveniles’ full cards include sizes for the new Harps O’Neills training tops.

 

Know Your Sport: Paul Fay, Adrian Gunn, Hugh Moyna, Jim Fanning and Jonathan Browne are the five joint-leaders in our sports prediction competition on 13 points each, with the Formula 1 Championship the only category yet to be completed.

 

Gavan Duffy Park: The refurbished Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 4515206 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

 

 

Hurling:

 

Juveniles: Training and games for all juvenile age groups continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey. Anyone interested in bringing along their child or helping out with the coaching, please contact the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page.

 

Minors: Our Ulster league semi-final away to Lisbellaw is provisionally fixed for this Saturday, November 5, at 2.30pm. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates.
