Our juvenile presentation night has been set for Friday, December 2, while we are planning to host an Irish music session on Sunday week (October 30) and a Tráth na gCeist on Saturday, November 12. Keep an eye on club notes for more details on these events.

Clubhouse photos: Over the next few weeks, Pádraig Callan and Damien Morgan will be putting pictures back up in the clubhouse. If anyone has any Harps photos that they would like on the wall, please provide a copy (A4, with no frame) to Pádraig or Damien.

Fun Day: Please make sure that any outstanding balloon race cards are returned to Jimmy Croarkin ASAP and that juveniles’ full cards include sizes for the new Harps O’Neills training tops. Anyone who finds a balloon and code is asked to email Pro.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie (closing date: November 1).

Good luck: To our minor hurlers in Saturday’s championship final replay and to the local St. Mary’s Boys School and Gaelscoil Ultain teams in the Cumann na mBunscol county finals, which will also be played this Saturday in Castleblayney.

Juvenile managers: Anyone who wants to express interest in managing one of our juvenile teams in 2017 is asked to contact Damien Morgan (086 8614730) or Aideen Swift (086 1062265) by Monday, November 14.

Congratulations: To St. Columba’s, Mullinalaghta, who ended their 66-year wait to win the Longford SFC last Sunday, with four sons of former Harps player Dan McElligott to the fore.

Well done: To our own Hugh Coyle, who played at half-time of the IFC Final along with the Monaghan Special Olympics group last Sunday.

Sympathy: At last week’s club meeting, votes of sympathy were passed to the families of Geraldine McMahon, Nicholas Johnston and Harry O’Reilly. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Know Your Sport: There are six joint-leaders in our sports prediction competition. Paul Fay, Adrian Gunn, Hugh Moyna, Jim Fanning, Anne McManus and Jonathan Browne all have 12 points, with the Airtricity League and the Formula 1 Championship yet to be completed.

Hurling:

Juveniles: Training and games for all juvenile age groups continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey. Anyone interested in bringing along their child or helping out with the coaching, please contact the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page.

Minors: We were at home to Cootehill in our Ulster league quarter-final on Saturday last. In a match played in bright conditions we were slow to start, but this was followed by an emphatic second-half performance from our lads. In an end-to-end first half, both teams displayed a great competitive spirit with the Harps going in two points better off (1-7 to 1-5). The Harps, however, controlled the second half and ran out winners in the end on a 4-16 to 2-7 scoreline. Well done to the squad and thanks to those that came along to show their support. We will play Lisbellaw next in the Ulster competition with the fixture details yet to be decided. Next up is our championship final replay against Carrickmacross. This will be held this coming Saturday (22nd) at 2.30pm in Clontibret. Get out and support the squad as they go for a league and championship double.

Squad: Cillian Sherry; Conor Duffy, Dylan McAree; Anthony Greenan, Cathal Power (0-3), Tommy Croarkin; Aidan Burns (1-8), Kieran McQuaid (2-0); Mark Murphy, Remy McKenna (0-1), Nathan O’Donoghue (0-1); Stefan McQuaid, Lochlainn Power (1-3); Conor McCrystal for L Power, Luke Mulligan for S McQuaid, John Lowry for Duffy, Conor Devlin for Greenan.
