Seniors: Ballybay conceded our scheduled County Monaghan Credit Unions Senior Football League last Sunday. Our last game before the semi-finals is away to Magheracloone on Sunday, October 23.

Fun Day: Thanks to the Herron and the Hillgrove Hotel for sponsoring the first Mick Farrell Memorial Tournament and to Eamonn Keelaghan for sponsoring Bragan water for all the U-10 players on the day. Please make sure that any outstanding balloon race cards are returned to Jimmy Croarkin ASAP and that juveniles’ full cards include sizes for the new Harps O’Neills training tops. Anyone who finds a balloon and code is asked to email Pro.monaghanharps.monaghan@gaa.ie (closing date: November 1).

U-13: We competed in the Under-13 Super Touch floodlit blitz in Cloghan on Monday night, October 10. We had 20 players on the night, but due to the number of clubs involved, we were only able to enter one team. We had a good run, with wins over Latton, Inniskeen, Drumhowan and Clontibret seeing us top our group. Nathan Lavery, Jake McConnon, Luke McManus, Liam Conway, Shay Cooney, Jamie Coyle, Daragh Croarkin, James Curley, Kevin Moran and Tiarnán O’Rourke were all among the scorers as we got through to a semi-final against Cremartin. Tiarnán, Liam and Jamie were on target for us in a well-contested game, but a very accurate Cremartin side hit a couple of three-pointers to advance to the final, which they won. Well done to all our players involved.

Our panel was: Liam Conway, Shay Cooney, Jamie Coyle, Jordan Crampton, Daragh Croarkin, James Curley, Gary Devlin, Josh Kelly, Nathan Lavery, Jake McConnon, Luke McManus, Mark McManus, Michael McMorrow, Kevin Moran, Ben Myers, Gregory O’Connell, Tiarnán O’Rourke, Jake Power, Shea Swift, Conor Treanor

Cumann na mBunscol: The local St. Mary’s Boys School team have qualified for another county final, where they are due to take on Castleblayney on Saturday, October 22.

Know Your Sport: There are now six joint-leaders in our sports prediction competition. Paul Fay, Adrian Gunn, Hugh Moyna, Jim Fanning, Anne McManus and Jonathan Browne all have 12 points, with the Airtricity League and the Formula 1 Championship yet to be completed.

Gavan Duffy Park: The refurbished Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 or Pádraig Callan on 087 4515206 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings, functions, etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

AGM date: The club’s Annual General Meeting has been set for Thursday, November 24.

Hurling:

Juveniles: Training and games for all juvenile age groups continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey. Anyone interested in bringing along their child or helping out with the coaching, please contact the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page.

U-16: Our U-16s took on Castleblayney at home in their championship semi-final last Saturday. Despite the absence of quite a number of the U-15 squad that won the floodlit blitz on the Monday previous, our lads put in a good performance and it really was quite an even contest throughout, with Castleblayney being just that bit more clinical in front of goal. Paul Maguire and Conor McCrystal were our scorers in the first half, which ended 1-1 to 2-4. Lochlainn Power and Conor were on target in the second half, but Blayney pushed on to finish 2-4 to 2-14 winners, Still, not a bad effort from our lads with most of them having another year or two at this age grade.

Team: Aaron Treanor, Stephen Ward, Conor McCrystal, Seán Conway, Paul Maguire, Darragh Murray, Donal Leonard, Killian Treanor, Lochlainn Power, Emmet Walshe, Tristan Moyna, Conor Devlin, John Lowry (Capt.), Sebastian Ostrowksi, Kacper Ostrowski.

Minors: Our rescheduled Ulster quarter-final against Cootehill is due to take place this Saturday (15th) in Rooskey with a time yet to be confirmed. We take on Carrickmacross in our championship final replay on Saturday, October 22 at 2.30pm in Clontibret. Keep an eye on the club Facebook page for updates on both these fixtures.
