ALL IRELAND 60×30

Monaghan handball wishes to congratulate Monaghan Harps player Eoghan Mc Ginnity on a marvellous semi-final victory over Cormac Scollan from Leitrim in the Under-14 Singles 60×30.  This match was played last week in Fenagh, County Leitrim and it was a mighty close affair with the accomplished large court local player taking the first game 15-11. Eoghan took the match to a decider by winning the second game 15-10. The tiebreak was equally nervewrecking with the scores level throughout.  Eoghan’s speed and utter determination was the deciding factor and he won the match 15-13.  Much credit must go to Eoghan’s coach, Raymond Leonard, who had him in great shape for the encounter.

The All-Ireland  final will be played in either Kingscourt, Virginia or Loughmacrory on Sunday October 16th. This has been a great year for the Harps player and is his second All-Ireland final this year.  Eoghan just missed out in the U-14 singles final by a single point in the deciding game in the small court against Kilkenny’s Kyle Dunne.

On this occasion he will be up against Wexford’s Josh Kavanagh who beat Cork’s David Lucey in the other semi-final.  Josh comes from a strong handballing family and will be a big favourite in the 60×30 final.  Best of luck to Eoghan who will be well-prepared for a tough battle.
