Emyvale GAA Club Notes for Thursday 27th October

Intermediate League: Emyvale retained their Intermediate status when they overcame a tough test in Aughnamullen on Sunday last. If they had lost this match it would’ve meant Junior Football for Emyvale next year so it was imperative that they win. Aughnamullen got off to the perfect start scoring a goal & a point before Emyvale got off the mark with a point scored by Daniel Mc Mahon. Emyvale were playing against a strong breeze but they kept plugging away & went in at halftime with the scores level 1:4 – 0:7. From the throw in, Daniel Mc Mahon was on target again with a well taken point to put Emyvale ahead for the first time in the match. Aughnamullen levelled the scores with a point & both teams were finding it difficult to score & then David Mc Allister drove in a high ball that curled in & over the bar for the score of the game. Going into injury time, Emyvale led by the narrowest of margins & they added three more to win on a score line of 0:13 – 1:6 much to the delight & relief of the large contingent of Emyvale supporters. Come Dine With Me: The Club is holding a “Come Dine With Me” themed event this weekend as the main fundraiser for 2016 and needs support to make this event a success. We are looking for people to host approximately eight people for an evening in their home on Saturday 29th October (or any other evening if that date is not suitable) and the proceeds of this event will go to the club. Everyone who hosts will receive a voucher for €50 and will be entered into a free draw for a weekend away. After the meal, everyone will gather in The Scarna Inn on Saturday night with their bellies full (hopefully) to round off the night. Buncrana Cup: Congratulations to the Monaghan U16 Team on once again winning the Buncrana Cup on Sunday last & in particular to two of our players Eoghan Treanor & Ryan O’Neill who were part of the team.

Outstanding Bills: The 31st October is the end of the club’s financial year so if anyone has any outstanding bills, please submit them to Treasurer Seamus O’Neill before that date.

Sympathy: The sympathy of the club is extended to the O’Brien & Murphy Families on the death of Kevin O’Brien who died last week. Kevin was an ardent supporter of Emyvale GAA Club & attended many matches down through the years. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
