Corduff Club Notes

October 7th, 2016

Minor Team:

Last Sunday was an historic day for the club, as our Minor Team won a Division 1 Championship title for the first time, completing a memorable Double for this group of players. Following on from the League Final victory over Magheracloone some weeks ago, the attention turned to Castleblayney and overcome Aughnamullen in the Championship Final.

Captain Fergal Hanratty led the scoring in the first half with a tally of 4 points, and was helped with 2 points coming from Sean Burns and Killian Hand chipping in with one. Just before half-time, Fionn O’Callaghan netted following a bursting run from midfield. Corduff led at half-time on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-04.

Sean McEnaney opened Corduff’s scoring in the second half but Aughnamullen clawed their way back into the game bringing the deficit back to two, but Dylan Finnegan’s goal extended Corduff’s advantage to 5 again. Sean Burns and Marc Keenan pointed late on to seal the victory, and etch Corduff’s name into the history books. The final score was 2-10 to 1-08.
