Had a very good win over Blackhill on Saturday last in the last game of the League Cup. The lads ran out 1-14 to 0-11 winners against the Championship winners to set up a semi-final against Sean McDermotts next Sunday at 2.30pm in Clones. Lets hope the lads can overturn the result from their Championship semi-final defeat a couple of weeks back. The game on Saturday started out very as a very tight affair with the lead changing hands a number of times with Clones eventually going in at half time 0-07 to 0-06 up with points coming from Eoin McQuaid (0-03), Adrian Alford (0-02), Colm Connolly and Ethan Audley. The second half started with both teams exchanging scores with Eoin McQuaid getting another point before Fabian Beggan scored a 45. Blackhill then got two scores of their own back but on 38 minutes Eoin McQuaid rattled the net to put Clones four points up. Further points from Adrian Alford and Colm Connolly had Clones 6 points up going into the last twenty minutes. Points from Cian O’Connor, Colm Connolly and Fintan Kelly helped Clones to ease over the finish line in a strong performance from the lads. Best of luck to the lads next Sunday.
