Fun Day: Our Family Fun Day is set to take place at Gavan Duffy Park on Saturday, October 1, including the return of the popular ‘Great Harps Balloon Race’, which is the club’s main fundraiser of 2016. Cards are available now and all club members are urged to make sure they get theirs from Jimmy Croarkin (087 1249635) and that full cards are returned as soon as possible. The prizes are iPads for the owner of the balloon found furthest away and the seller of the most balloons, while juveniles with a full card will receive a new Harps training top.

Congratulations: To the Monaghan New York Gaelic football team on winning their SFC Final last Sunday. Well done especially to the Harps men involved in the Monaghan NYC set-up.

Hurling:

Juveniles: Training and games for all juvenile age groups continues every Sunday at 12pm in Rooskey. Anyone interested in bringing along their child or helping out with the coaching, please contact the Monaghan Harps Hurling Facebook page.

Minor: We made a worthwhile trip to Termonfeckin last Sunday morning for round four of the Ulster league, where we defeated St. Fechins on a 5-12 to 1-3 scoreline (3-7 to 0-1 at half-time). In a game played in bright but windy conditions, we were slow to settle into our stride but once we did, with a fine score from Lochlainn Power, we put in a great performance. We had eight scorers in all on the day, and our backs were resolute throughout also. This result ensures that we finish at least second in our group heading into the quarter-final, which is currently due to be played on the weekend of September 24. With the possibility of a county championship fixture on the same weekend announced as recently as last Monday, it remains to be seen when these games will be played. Check the Facebook page for updates.

Team & scorers: Aidan Burns (0-1), Conor Duffy, Dylan McAree, Anthony Greenan, Emmet Walshe, Cathal Power (0-3), Tommy Croarkin (1-0), Niall McManus (1-2), Kieran McQuaid (2-1), Mark Murphy (0-4), Lochlainn Power (0-1), Seán Conway (1-0), Nathan O’Donoghue, Luke Mulligan.
