Seniors.
Our seniors played Donaghmoyne in the Intermediate football championship on Saturday last in Aughnamullen. In an exciting and sporting contest that we went into as underdogs, we began well and dominated the first half exchanges, to go in at half time with a fully deserved two point lead, Currin 0-6, Donaghmoyne 0-4. In the second half we continued to play some great football and in the end, the sheer ‘weight of numbers’ caught up with us and we only ‘wilted’ in the last five minutes when the Mitchell’s got on top and went on to win on a score line of Currin, 0-11, Donaghmoyne, 0-14. Team: Fergal Connolly, Colm McCaffrey, Ronan King, Ben Clerkin, Patrick McDermott, Conor McCaffrey, 0-1, Darragh Brady, Dick Clerkin, 0-1, Enda McCaffrey, 0-1 (f), Ciaran McCaffrey, Kieran Kearns, Paul Rudden, 0-1, Niall McEntee, 0-2, Stephen Smyth, 0-5 (2f), Cian North. Subs: Jason McKernan Cian North. Well done to all concerned on the huge effort. It bodes well for 2017. We are down to travel to Corduff on Sunday at 12.30 in the I.F.L.
Youth Affairs
Under 10’s,
We travelled to Tyholland on Saturday last for a ‘Go Games’ Blitz. The games went off very well and all enjoyed the trip. Thanks to Tyholland GFC. for the efficient organization on the day. There are some excellent pictures on our ‘Facebook’ page. Training continues on Saturday mornings.
Committee affairs,
At our recent club meeting it was decided to push ahead with the enhancement of our facilities and the new land at Coolnacarte. It is hoped to have fundraising proposals in place shortly.
Teddy Burns,
Best wishes and thank you to Teddy Burns who has finished up working at the complex. Everyone agrees that Teddy done a fantastic job and we wish him well.
Best wishes,
Currin G.F.C. would like to extend our best wishes to Archdeacon Helene Steed and family who are moving from Scotshouse to Belfast. Our best wishes especially to Grace who will be missed by her under 12 team mates.
