Corduff Club Notes

September 15th, 2016

Intermediate Team:

The Intermediate Team faced Tyholland in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League last Saturday evening. After a lacklustre first half performance, the team rallied in the second half, edging ahead, but ultimately Tyholland finished the stronger of the teams to win by the minimum, 1-12 to 0-14.

The Intermediate team have three games left in the league, the next of which is Sunday week, 25th September at home to Currin. See next week’s notes for time confirmation.

Junior Team:

The Junior side finished their league campaign last Sunday with a trip to Aghabog.

The first objective for this team was to fulfil all fixtures in the competition, enhancing the opportunity for as many players to play football throughout the year.

The club would like to extend their gratitude to all mentors and players who played with the team and look forward to seeing many return next year.

JUVENILES:

Under 14’s:

Well done to our U14s on a great performance in Saturday’s Under 14 Division 4 Shield Final.

Corduff created plenty of scoring chances in the first half but didn’t convert enough of them and were behind at half-time by 2-4 to 3-7. The boys produced a brilliant second half performance and levelled the score, 5-9 to 5-9, in stoppage time. Unfortunately, Doohamlet pointed with the last kick of the game to win it.

The Corduff boys were naturally very disappointed with the result but they can be very proud of how they played.

Congratulations to Doohamlet on the win.

LADIES

Seniors:

The Senior Ladies returned to competitive action last Sunday with a trip to Truagh. Truagh dominated in the first half but Corduff showed character and resolve in the second half. Despite a better second half from Corduff, Truagh eased to victory. This Sunday 18th September, Corduff host Inniskeen with a 12 noon throw-in. Your support would be appreciated.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to twins Louise & Emma Byrne who were members of Kilkenny Camogie team’s backroom team that won the All-Ireland last Sunday. The twins who are regulars with the Kilkenny hurling team were also stats and video analysts with the camogie team and unlike the previous week the stats added up correctly for the camogie team! Well done to the girls on being part of this victory
