Monaghan Coaching & Games in conjunction with Ulster GAA ran a hurling summer camp which catered for boys aged 10-13 from 16th – 18th August. This is the second year of the Farney Hurling Academy after it’s great success in 2015. During the 3-day hurling camp, players received a great programme of coaching which focused on all the skills in hurling as well as an introduction to flexibility & strength programmes. On the last day of the camp Wexford Senior Hurlers Lee Chin and Conor McDonald attended the camp where they took the group through a series of games and drills. The players really enjoyed this aspect of the camp and it was great that they got the chance to learn from two of the brightest hurling talents in Ireland. A big thanks to Ulster Regional Ulster Development Officers Pauric Dowdall and particularly Ryan Gaffney who worked tirelessly throughout the camp to ensure it was a success. In total just under 50 players took part in the camp where they received a specially designed t-shirt and hurling grip for attending the camp. Hopefully the older players at the camp will progress to the Monaghan Hurling U14 Development Squad next year. Hurling within Monaghan looks bright with these talented players coming up.
