Emyvale GAA Club Notes for Thursday 18th August

Intermediate Team: Emyvale Turned the tables on Rockcorry on Wednesday evening last with an impressive win in Rockcorry. With a few positional changes & the return of a couple of injured players, Emyvale dominated most of the game & when Michael Flannery tapped in a goal in the first minutes it was clear Emyvale were out to gain revenge for their defeat at the hands of Rockcorry in the Championship. They won on a score line of Emyvale 2:11 Rockcorry 0:9. Then on Sunday last they hosted Cremartin & it took Emyvale a long time to settle into their rhythm & at halftime they trailed by four points having hit six wides. They came out more determined in the second half & went two up but the sides were level on five different occasions & once again Cremartin fought back to level the game & the sides finished all square at 1:12 each. Emyvale next play Corduff away this weekend so please check fixture official list.

Minors: Emyvale Minor Team were defeated by Carrickmacross on Tuesday evening last in the Minor Championship Division 2 Semi-final. It was a game of two halves with Emyvale playing the better football in the opening half & leading by five points at half time but they hit eight wides in this half & this was to be their downfall because in the second half, Carrick got back into the game & started closing the gap & the final nail in the coffin, was a well hit goal by Carrick. Emyvale only managed to score one point in this half & it finished Carrickmacross 2:9 Emyvale 3:3. Full credit to the Emyvale players & their management team for doing so well in this competition, a few more scores in the second half would’ve secured a final spot but it was not to be.
