Seniors.

Our seniors played Cremartin in the first round of the Mc Elvanney’s W & R Intermediate football championship on Sunday evening last. In wind and rain swept conditions both teams began tentatively and a Kieran Kearns goal after 10 minutes gave Currin the initiative which saw them narrowly in front at half time on a 1-4 to 1-3 scoreline. Stephen Smith, who was magnificent throughout, scored a cracking goal after four minutes which left us four up but only great goalkeeping from Fergal Connolly kept the Cremartin forwards at bay, and the game went to extra time on a scoreline of 2-6 to 1-9. In dreadful conditions neither team could seize the initiative and the game finished level, with Enda Mc Caffrey coming off the bench to score our only score of the extra period. Final score line, Cremartin, 1-10, Currin 2-7. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Colm Mc Caffrey, Ronan King, Ben Clerkin, Paddy Mc Dermott, 0-1, Conor Mc Caffrey, Dara Brady, Dick Clerkin, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, Cian North,

Stephen Smith 1-4, Jason Mc Kiernan, Paul Rudden, 0-1, Eoin Morrow, Ciaran Kearns,1-0. Subs used, Shane O Connor, Niall Mc Entee, Enda Mc Caffrey, 0-1. Antony Leonard, Hughie Reilly. Well done to all concerned for a fantastic effort. The replay has as yet not been fixed and with all the injuries, our upcoming league fixtures will be difficult. Keep ‘an eye and an ear’ out for any changes.

Currin GFC has won top prize in this year’s Supervalu in store promotion in Clones. There is a very good prize of a range of juvenile equipment for the club. Currin pipped Clones for top spot. Well done to everyone who gathered up the tickets and put them into our box. Great work by all concerned. The presentation will be made by Conor McManus and will take place on Friday evening 12th August at Supervalu in Clones. Thanks to Bernard for the continued support. Hopefully as many as possible will attend.
